Ajay's COMPLETE guide to reps!
I've seen countless threads asking about rep. Whether it be about how to give it, what it means or begging for it! So here is your definitive guide on everything there is to know about reps!
I'm glad you asked! Reputation points, or 'rep' for short, are ways that other forum users can show that they appreciate your post.
It's easy! Just be a contributing member of Smokin' Elite and the reps will come naturally! People tend to +rep for well-written guides, helpful posts, completed services, funny posts or just about ANYTHING that impacted them! On the other hand, negative reps are just as easy, if not easier, to earn as positive reps. People tend to negative rep for inappropriate posts, begging threads, spam or just being generally unhelpful! So be careful about what you say; make sure you think about how other people will interpret what you're saying!
I'm flattered, really, thanks. Reps can be given by hitting the red + or - on the right-hand side of the post you wish to have input about!
Here are the buttons:
Reps can also be given out by the topic creator by them hitting the 'thanks!' button on the right-hand side of the post! This rewards 3 + reps to the person 'thanked'! This can be done without the topic creator having any reps at all!
Here is the thanks button!
Calm down, buddy! You can't give out a positive or negative rep until you have your first rep. Once you receive your first positive rep, you can rest assured that there will be a red +/- on the right-hand side of your posts!
Negative reputation points do not count against you in certain sections, while in others it can bring you down into the negatives! Just know that when he looks at the post, he will see that someone neg repped him!
Unfortunately... no. At this time, we cannot track who gives whom rep. Although, if you look through your posts and see a green bar similar to this one:
You can know that you got repped on that post. And if you hover over the bar, you can find out how many votes you've received and what percentage of those votes were positive!
Absolutely not! Reps are often used to gauge a good forum user, the more reps, the better the user (with exceptions, of course)! Reps are also looked at in applications to move up in the clan, whether it be an application for Highly Trusted, Trainee, or even Rank!
Ask it here! I'll gladly answer and add it to my guide! Good luck on your rep journey!

Perfect guide for those that are new here and are not sure how the rep system work. It would be cool if you showed a small pic of all of the reps that Mr. J has accumulated to show an example of a "great forum user," and also to find a member with many neg reps as an example of a "bad forum user".

I might add something like this. But I want to stress that just because you have more reps means you're a better user than someone who may have less. It just shows that the community appreciates you if you have a high rep count.
Re: Ajay's COMPLETE guide to reps!
Thanks Ajay, I've been thinking lately that I don't have enough +reps. This guide explains really well how to get them. In this way, I think that I can become a respectable user of this forum.

No, I don't think that will ever happen.
