Kingdom Management is an activity in which you gain control of the Kingdom of Miscellanea and decide which resources to gather for your personal use. You add money to the royal coffer and help citizens to gain their approval of you, making them work harder. It's a great way to get raw materials for certain skills or gain profit daily. Your Kingdom can easily be reached using the Fairy Rings (CIP) or using an Enchanted Lyre to teleport to Relleka and then take a boat to Miscellanea.

To gain control of your Kingdom and start your royal duties, you must first complete the quest Throne of Miscellanea. Upon completion, you will be able to access the royal coffer and assign up to ten workers to gather resources. Still, to gain full access to the Kingdom's benefits, you must also complete the subsequent quest, Royal Trouble. This will add five more workers to your team and two more gathering options. Both of these quests are relatively easy and are both required to gain maximum profit from your Kingdom.

The whole managing concept is quite easy to grasp, and shouldn't take long before you fully understand it. There are three factors that affect how well your kingdom produces resources: citizen approval rating, funds in the royal coffer, and the amount of workers set on the resources. You can manage these things and collect your resources by talking to Advisor Ghrim located in the Miscellanea Castle.

Getting to the Kingdom of Miscellanea isn't hard, and there's quite a few ways to do so. Here in this map you'll see some of the easiest paths to your Kingdom with some brief insight on each of them below it.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 2r6igq8

A. Fairy Rings - The code to the Miscellanea Fairy Ring is CIP. This is the method you'll most likely use if you have started the Fairytale II - Cure A Queen quest. Not only are the rings highly accessible from most places in Runescape, the one in Miscellanea is located right next to the coal, so you can easily raise your Approval Rating.

B. Enchanted Lyre Teleport - The Enchanted Lyre is another good method of getting to your Kingdom. You'll be able to make one once you finish The Fremennik Trials. It's a bit of a tedious process to make one, but you can have multiples in your bank. You can opt to enchant it with a Shark, Sea Turtle, Manta Ray, or a Bass (with an enchanted Ring of Charos) at the Fossegrimmen's altar south of Relleka. If you have they Fremennik Boots 2 from the Fremennik Achievement Diary, you'll have a free lyre teleport each day.

C. Camelot Teleport - A viable option once you have 45 Magic. Simple and cheap, costing only 1 Law Rune and 5 Air Runes, this is also a good way to reach the kingdom. You'll have to make a rather long walk towards Relleka and then get on a boat to Miscellanea on the docks there, only to walk a bit more towards your kingdom, so it can be a bit tiring. Keep in mind, that eventually all those runes will add up though, so I'd advise for one of the previous two if possible.

D. Slayer Ring Teleport - You can also get there using a Slayer Ring to teleport to the Fremennik Slayer Dungeon, walk from there to Relleka, and onto the boat to Miscellanea. You'll need to have completed the Smoking Kills quest and have accumulated enough Slayer Points to either buy a ring , or learn to craft them yourself. Unless you're an avid slayer, you probably won't be using this method much.

E. House Teleport - With 30 Construction you can set your house in Relleka and with 40 Magic you can teleport to it. It'll cost you 1 Law Rune, 1 Air Rune, and 1 Earth Rune to cast the spell, and you'll appear inside your house. Considering you appear at nearly the same spot as the lyre, you're better off using that method.

F. Spirit Tree Teleport - If you have 83 Farming, you can also plant a Spirit Tree in the patch in Etceteria. This method is very convenient, since there's a Spirit Tree right next to the Grand Exchange.

You can also use a Miscellania Teleport Scroll, or a ring of wealth, which teleports you directly to Advisor Ghrim. (Thanks to Broeder, for adding this)

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 55132680

You'll learn how to raise your approval rating during the Throne of Miscellanea quest. The idea is to help citizens in your kingdom with their daily tasks, whether it be woodcutting, herb picking, mining, or fishing. Each gives a different percentage of approval per resource. The quickest way to raise your Approval Rating is by helping Miner Magnus mine coal, on the northwest side of Miscellanea. Each coal you mine will add 0.8% to your Approval Rating, meaning after 125 Coal mined, you will have raised from 0% to 100% rating. Your Approval Rating decreases every day and should be kept at 100% for maximum efficiency. Mining one coal a day should suffice in maintaining it there. You can check your current Approval Rating by speaking to any citizen or with Advisor Ghrim.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Approvalratingrg7

You get very little experience from helping your subjects (1 exp pr. 10 ores/logs/fish's etc. you collect) and they will not allow you to help any further once you reach 100% Approval Rating.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 31547887

This is pretty straight forward. Get some of your gold coins from your bank and talk to Advisor Ghrim to deposit them in the Kingdom's coffer. Simple as that. You can store up to 5M after Throne of Miscellanea, and later up to 7.5M once you complete Royal Trouble. Your workers will be paid one tenth of the amount you have deposited, to a maximum of 50K which raises to 75K after Royal Trouble. For maximum efficiency, you should always make sure to have at least 750K in your coffer every day.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Cofferbf9

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 88459479

After talking to Advisor Ghrim and accessing the Kingdom Control window, you can set your workers to collect resources by clicking the up and down arrows next to the desired option. You will have a total of ten workers at first, which later increases to fifteen after the completion of Royal Trouble. You must always make sure none of your workers are Idle; Idle workers are still paid! Having more workers on one option will mean more of that resource. After gathering a set number of resources, your workers will find a bonus item. This item changes for each resource.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Workers

For information on bonus items, see the Gathering Options section.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 13008986

After your first day of setting up your Kingdom, you will be able to collect the resources gathered by your subjects. To do so, simply talk to Advisor Ghrim and ask him how the Kingdom is faring. He will give you the option to collect your resources or leave them stored for later. The only benefit you would get by not collecting them is you receive a slightly higher amount bonus items. The amount of main resources per day is not affected in any way by this. You must have enough empty spaces in your bank in order to collect the resources (usually between 5-10 spaces).

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Easymoney6

Note: You have to wait 24 hours starting from the moment you first set your workers to gather and had money stored in your coffer. Should your coffer or approval rating ever reach zero, the timer will be reset to the time you raise either again. The time you gather your resources does not affect the timer in any way.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 39335614

There are a total of six gathering options and a total of eight obtainable resources.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Gathering

Herbs Patch
The Herbs option can be set to gather either random Herbs or Flax. The range of possible Herbs includes low level and high level herbs, but favors lower level herbs though usually above Tarromin. The Flax setting will give you just that: Flax. I wouldn't recommend using the Herbs setting at all since it's a big gamble and you could make more money using other options to buy the herbs you need. The flax setting on the other hand is very useful for Crafting and Fletching. For every 100 herbs or 600 flax, you will get a random herb seed.
You gather 6 herbs or 125 flax per worker at maximum Approval Rating (100%) and Funds (750K).

Wood Site
The Wood option provides only Maple Logs. This option is only good if trying to get certain bird eggs. The amount of Maple Logs gained is less than that which you would get by just buying them from players at the price paid. If training Firemaking or Fletching, it's best to gather another resource to make money and buy the maple logs instead. For every 100 Maple Logs, you will receive a Bird's Nest. Bird's Nests received this way are the same as if gotten by woodcutting and can contain eggs (with the exception of Raven Eggs), seeds, and rings. This is also a good way to try and get all the God Eggs needed to get the respective pet.
You gather 89 Maple Logs per worker at maximum Approval Rating (100%) and Funds (750K).

Mining Site
The Mining option provides only Coal. This can be very useful when training Smithing, since you would only have to gather main ores yourself. It's perfect for Ranged and Slayer training as well, since you can make Cannonballs at a lowered cost. For every 150 Coal mined, you will receive one random Uncut Gem (Sapphire, Emerald, Ruby, or Diamond only).
You gather 54 Coal per worker at maximum Approval Rating (100%) and Funds (750K).

Fishing Docks
The Fishing option will provide you with two resources at once: Tuna and Swordfish. You may also set the option for these fish to be cooked, which could be useful if you quickly need training food. Still, I recommend getting them raw, since they are worth more this way and can provide Cooking XP should you decide to cook them. For every 50 fish, you will get one casket. Caskets can contain anything from Seaweed to Half a Key, though coins and gems are the most common rewards. You may also get occasional Level-1 Clue Scrolls, Uncut Gems, Fremennik Gloves, or Fremennik Boots from fishing along with the Caskets.
You gather 44 Tuna and 13 Swordfish per worker at maximum Approval Rating (100%) and Funds (750K).

Hardwood Site
This option is gained after the completion of the Royal Trouble quest. The Hardwood option will gather either Teak Logs, Mahogany Logs or both. I don't recommend using these logs for training Construction, since the planking cost is quite large. I don't recommend using this option at all. For every 350 logs, you will get a Bird's Nest.
You gather 30 Teak Logs or 20 Mahogany Logs per worker at maximum Approval Rating (100%) and Funds (750K). If set to gather both, you gather 12 Teak and Mahogany Logs per worker at maximum Approval Rating (100%) and Funds (750K).

Farm Patch
This option is gained after the completion of the Royal Trouble quest. The Farm option will provide random Farming Seeds. Note that neither tree nor fruit tree seeds are obtained as part of the main resource. This option is not particularly useful and I wouldn't recommend using it. For every 175 seeds, you will get 1 Tree Seed.
You gather 47 Farming Seeds per worker at maximum Approval Rating (100%) and Funds (750K).

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 75515667

Assuming you have 100% Approval Rating and over 750K gold in your coffer, you will be effectively paying the following costs per resource:

Coal - 91.6gp
Tuna - 53.3gp
Swordfish - 189.4gp
Flax - 40gp
Herbs - 826.4gp
Farming Seeds - 104.8gp
Maple Logs - 56.1gp
Teak Logs - 166.1gp
Mahogany Logs - 224.6gp
Both Teak and Mahogany Logs - 191.3gp

The formula used to find how much you are paying per resource is:

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Formulal

Note: The maximum value for Coffer Funds is 750,000. Even if there is more stored in the Coffer, that value will not exceed 750,000.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 29981943

There are quite a few ways to manage your Kingdom in the most efficient way possible depending on what your goal is and how much work you are willing to put into it. Here are the two most profitable ones I've found as of today. Note that you have to visit your Kingdom every day to keep your Approval Rating at 100% and your coffer over 750K in order for these to work.

Maximum Possible Profit With Most Work
The set up that will provide the maximum profit possible is definitely having 10 workers on Flax and 5 workers on Coal. This method requires the most work and can consume quite a part of your day. To get the most out of this you will have to spin all 1250 Flax into Bow Strings, mine 136 iron ores to smelt into Steel Bars, and then turn the Steel Bars into Cannonballs. Doing this daily can be quite tedious and boring unless you are training either Crafting or Smithing. If you are going to use this method, I'd recommend collecting resources a day or two before starting to process them into the final products. Do not let them pile up though, or you will become discouraged. Unless you are training Crafting or Smithing, I would not recommend this method, since you could probably make more or the same amount of profit doing something else in less time than it would take to process all the items.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Maxmostworkzq6

You will receive at least approx. 253K profit per day this way. You will also gain 18,750 Crafting XP, 4,760 Mining XP, and 5,780 Smithing XP per day.

Maximum Possible Profit With Some Work
If you are training Crafting or don't mind spinning 1250 flax every day, then the best set up for you would be 10 workers on Flax and 5 on Fish. The fish should be sold raw for maximum profit, though you will still profit if you cook them.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Maxsomeworkmt3

You will receive at least approx. 208K profit per day using this method. Along with that you get 18,750 Crafting XP daily. Should you decide to cook the fish, you will gain 31,100 Cooking XP daily at the cost of 13K less profit (195K Total Profit).

Maximum Possible Profit With No Work
Currently, the more conventional set up for maximum profit would be 10 workers on Coal and 5 workers on Fish. Another option could be 5 workers on Flax depending on current GE prices. You will also receive gems as well as caskets, which will considerably add to the profit gained.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 10coal5fish

You will receive somewhere around 195K profit a day.

Popular Method: Bird Nests
Another possible setup would be to have 10 workers on Maples and 5 workers on Fish. The reason you would want to set them to Maples is not for the Maple Logs, but for the Bird Nests you get every 100 Maple Logs. Inside these nests you can find valuable fruit tree seeds as well as normal tree seeds. While this is a bit of a small gamble, you can potentially gain more profit than the method listed above. Crushing the nests might become a hassle for some though, especially if your bank is near full.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management Maplesetupjn1

You will receive approx. 88K profit on assured materials alone, plus the possible profits from the items in the Bird Nests. Should you decide to cook the fish, you will gain 31,100 Cooking XP daily at the cost of 13K less assured profit (75K Assured Profit).

Note: Prices are sure to fluctuate as days pass so the profit earned might either rise or lower depending on the time the items are sold. All profit totals were made based on the items minimum selling price on the day of writing, meaning higher profit is possible if sold at market or maximum price. For current prices and profit gains, see "Section 12: Today's Profits Spreadsheet."

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 78031205

To make sure you are collecting from the most profitable method according to today's prices, check the following caulculator located at:
http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/Calculators/Miscellania

Credits goes to www.runescape.wikia.com for the caulculator

It updates along with the prices in the Grand Exchange, so you will always know which method is best to collect whenever you decide to do so. To change methods, simply refuse to collect resources when prompted by the Advisor, and make the appropriate changes in the Kingdom Management interface. Talk to him again and choose to collect the resources. You will receive the resources for the method you just set. Note that no matter how long you have waited to collect your resources, the one that is most profitable in the spreadsheet (which is based on one day's collection) will also be the most profitable for however many days you waited.

Silver's Guide To Effective Kingdom Management 59463638

  • A good time to set the timer for collecting resources is at midnight or some time you are asleep. That way, it will be as if you can gather them daily, instead of every 24 hours.
  • Try not to space your workers to many tasks, this is unconventional and does not make much profit.
  • If you ever want to stop your Kingdom from working, simply withdraw all your funds from the royal coffer. Do NOT just set your workers to Idle, as they will still get paid.
  • If you have access to Lunar Spells, you can use the NPC Contact (67 Magic) spell to speak with Advisor Ghrim.
  • Remember to still go and keep your approval rating and funds up if you do this though.
  • When selling the items, try selling them at market price first. Leave them on for a while to see if they sell before changing them to minimum price.
  • Remember to bring 75K coins and a pickaxe every time you visit your Kingdom so you can add to the coffer and raise your Approval Rating.
  • You can also bring a hatchet instead, and cut Teaks in Etceteria to raise your Approval Rating quickly without having to click much.
  • If you forget a pickaxe or hatchet, you can buy a rake or sickle for 15gp from Gardener Gunnhild near the castle wall's entrance. You can then help by weeding the Herbs patch instead, though it will take longer to raise your Approval Rating.
  • Also, if you have the required levels, you can fish for swordfish or tuna using your hands.
  • There is a bank in Etceteria, just east of Miscellania Castle, if you need to withdraw more money for your coffer.
  • You can store more than 750K in your coffer so you don't have to deposit money in it everyday. Make sure to still visit daily to raise your Approval Rating though. For every 75K over 750K is an extra day you can go without depositing money in your coffer.
  • Storing 1.2M is enough to last a week without going below 750K. This means you pay 525K a week, instead of having to pay the 75K a day (both costs are equal, you do not lose or save money by doing either way). Remember to raise your citizens approval daily though.
  • You can change what resources you get at the last second by simply not collecting them, switching your workers to the desired resource, and then talking to Advisor Ghrim again to collect them.
  • If using the Maple method, it is best to collect resources every week, rather than daily. This is due to the way the bonus items equation works. In layman's terms, the longer you wait to collect, the more nests you'll get.
  • You can get a bit of extra money by buying out all the Feathers from the Fishmonger in Miscellanea and the one in Etceteria, and then selling them in the Grand Exchange.
  • Also, you can plant a Whiteberry bush in the patch in Etceteria and pick from it daily for additional profit.

Thank you for reading my guide! Hope it was helpful! If you think so, please +rep me! cheers Thanks again,

~Silveraa

very nice guide, explains alot of stuff that i've seen alot of questions about.
the method i use is 9 on maples and 6 on coal, because i collect every 24 hours at the moment, so its a wasted worker, and i've found that the crushed nests that are gotten usually cover the difference of having the workers on herbs or something, plus seeds.
