Minecraft Server Update - Cauldrons! (with more recipes to come)
Alright, basically the "cauldron" is a place where you can go transmute items into other items. I plan to use this for rapid crafting, like changing a large stack of sticks and planks into signs, and a way to introduce rarer (but still useful) items into the game.
To start with you will be able to turn wheat into cocoa beans. This is normally a rare item that has no source entering the game other than dungeon chests. They allow you to make cookies, a useful, stackable food item.
So, to get cocoa beans you must first locate the stargate that's near the spawn point.
Pass through the stargate to reach the cauldron temple.
In the very center of the temple you will see the cauldron itself. Simply throw the items (using Q or by throwing them from your inventory screen) into the cauldron and right click the glass inside the cauldron. Your items will then be replaced by what you want.
The formula for converting wheat into cocoa beans is
W = wheat
F = factor (starts at 0 and increases by 1 every third complete cocoa bean)
C = cocoa
So if you add 39 wheat then you'll get 12 cocoa beans ( (39 - 3) / 3). The factor is there to make converting large amounts (you can convert up to 63 wheat to 19 beans) slightly less efficient than converting smaller amounts to compensate for the time efficiency of using large stacks.
