A Rank group consists of a Rank Manager (RM) and his Ranks. To become a Rank, you need to have been a Trainee for x-amount of time + meet the requirements of becoming a Rank.

Mentor/Mentee have almost nothing to do with Trainee/Rank (not the same type of status by any means).

Every RM (Rank Manager) has their own Rank group. And there are 6 RM's.

Trainee is below a Rank.

Trainees all have a TM (Trainee Manager).
Ranks all have a RM (Rank Manager).

Trainee is pretty much the first step to becoming a Rank.
Rank has many more responsibilities and are higher ranked than a Trainee.

Does this answer your question?

Ok: In Smokin Mils we have Ranks who are the main body of management that help the clan to run and function. These people are generally well-respected and hold the lowest level of authority in the clan.

Above Ranks we have Rank Managers, to which every Rank is assigned one. Rank Managers are responsible for keeping their Ranks in order and can act as a higher level of authority to solve any issues brought forward. Rank Manager Groups also tend to work together to help organise events for the rest of the clan.

Trainees are one step below Ranks. Whilst holding no authority, Trainees are introduced to some of the things Ranks are expected to do, and Trainee Managers are there to help guide them and answer any questions. After being Trainee for a certain period of time and fulfilling further requirements, you may advance from a Trainee to a Rank.

Mentors and the mentoring system is different. Anyone may apply to become a Mentee and learn the art of merchanting. There are four categories you can chose to be assigned to: Active Flipping, Overnight/Inactive Flipping, Investment and Manipulation. After selecting a category you are interested in, you are assigned to that mentoring group which has multiple Mentors who help teach you that particular kind of merchanting. You are not assigned to one specific Mentor, but rather all Mentors in your group. As a Mentee, you can expect to learn how to merchant and it ends with a test. If you successfully pass this test then you "graduate" and may apply to one of the other sections of merchanting in the mentoring system to learn.
