Other Flipping Methods Pre_1399336989__guides

Friends Chats/Forum Posts

Nowadays there are a number of friends chats that give prices for most low limit items. They also have a forum post on RSOF (Runescape Official Forums) where you can get the last reported prices. There are a number of guides in these sections (on this forum) that go into detail about how they work, so I won't go into detail here. Sometimes there may be no one giving prices for some time and the forum posts can be old, so that's why I'll explain some other ways you can flip items like these. Below is a list of the main "FC's" and what items they cover, but if you do some research you can find many more.

R Quark - Covers prices for  discontinued items, besides the two newest ones (fish mask and xmas tree hat). The items they do cover are Party Hats (Purple, Yellow, Green, Red, White, street prices for Blue), Christmas Cracker, edibles (Easter Egg, Pumpkin, Disc of Returning, Half Jug of Wine), and lower rares (Green H'Ween, Blue H'ween, Red H'ween, Santa Hat).

Nex and SS - Covers all Nex armours/weapons and the major 4 spirit shield. Specifically, Torva (Full Helm, Platebody, Platelegs, Gloves, Boots), Pernix (Coif, Body, Chaps, Gloves, Boots), Virtus (Hood, Robe Top, Robe Legs, Gloves, Boots, Wand, Book), and Zaryte Bow.

90Weaps Pc - Covers all Drygore Weapons. Main Hand and Offhand Mace, Rapier, and Longsword, in addition to Ascension Crossbow and its Offhand version, Seismic Wand and Singularity.

Pc 101 - Covers God Wars armours and some TT items. Specifically, Bandos (Helmet, Chestplate, Tassets, Gloves, Boots, Warshield), Armadyl (Helmet, Chestplate, chainskirt, Gloves, Boots, Buckler, Crossbow), Subjugation (Hood, Garb, Gown, Boots, Gloves, Ward), Robin Hood Hat, Ranger Boots, Saradomin's Hiss/Murmur, and Whisper.

Merchz Membership

What most people don't realize about Merchz is that the GE graphs are free. This site has a much more user friendly feel and the limits are the most reliable of all the merch graph sites. At the bottom of each graph is an indicator that uses the previous graph movements to predict if you should sell or buy, which has been quoted as being roughly 70-80% accurate, so while these indicators are handy, you should still use your best judgement. But of course Merchz isn't the only one out there, if you're looking for alternatives I suggest looking here.

A free trial is also available for limited time access to the live graphs that are updated from the chat in most of the price checking FC's, for those thinking about buying membership. Although the prices come from the FC's themselves, this is a really handy tool as you can see instantly what the price has been doing for the last day, week or even months with more accuracy than the standard GE graphs.

Buy High and Estimate

For this method it helps if you know the item a bit and know the "usual" margins for it. Now I could list them, but they do tend to change over time and the list won't be accurate in a few months from now. So baring that in mind, I'll use an example with an item that's margin doesn't change much unless rapidly rising/falling, the Santa Hat.

First thing you need to do is find the high price and you do this the same as if you were price checking it. Put an offer in for about 15% over the GE price to instantly buy one.

Now sell it back a few K under that price so you don't lose much on it. This becomes your sell price, but now you want a buy price to profit on the 2nd hat of your 4 hour limit. You determine how much your going to profit on flips like these, but knowing the "usual" margins helps. With Santa Hats, they often have a 500k margin so you would put an offer in to buy the 2nd about 500k under your sell price. Once you get one simply sell at your high price and you've made 500k in a fairly short time.

The big thing with this technique is you need to know the usual margins. This comes from practice and using the FC's as a guide when you can. Once you have an idea what the margin should normally be, then you can use this method anytime the FC's have no one giving prices.

Duo Flipping

Another method you can do is flip with a partner. With this method, you get very accurate prices and can profit on a full limit of a 2 per 4hrs item. Both of you simply pc a different 2 limit item, flip the 2nd of the limit so you don't lose money getting the prices. Then you swap the prices you have with your partners prices. This gives you both the exact margins of a 2 limit item each at little or no cost at all.

  • So for example person A pc's a Santa Hat, then flips the second to break even.
  • Person B pc's a Blue H'ween then flips the second to break even.
  • Person A can the flip 2 Blue H'weens and person B can flip 2 Santa Hats using the exact margins. Win-win.

Multiple Accounts

For a long time this has not been an option many could afford, but with the introduction of Bonds, good flippers can afford to get membership on 2 or even 3 accounts at once and they can pay for it with the gp they earn. With 2 accounts you can duo flip by yourself, but with 3 you can profit twice on each pc. Also 3 accounts then opens up the ability to pc 1 limit items to flip on the other 2 accounts. That way one account loses gp but the next gains it back and the third makes pure profit. Of course the more accounts you can maintain the more you can profit from one pc.

Lowball/Highball

This would have to be the slowest techniques, but it still has it's uses and can be done on most stable items including those with a 4 hour limit of 1. I won't go into full detail here as I've previously written a guide purely on this method which can be found below. But basically, you put a buy offer in at a very, very low price. This guarantees that you won't pay too much and instant buy it, plus it gives you the chance to catch a panic seller or someone dumping the item. From here you slowly raise your price until you get one. Then you try to sell it very high in the hopes of someone trying to get it immediately. Then you slowly lower the price until you sell it. If the items limit is more than one you now have your buy and sell prices that you can now flip the rest of the limit with. But if you want more details on this method then please read the full guide below.
