Divine Ploow’s Herb Farming Guide
Divine Ploow’s Herb Farming Guide
.:Introduction:.
Hello Guest and welcome to my guide.
Before you start reading, they key word is PATIENCE.
If you have none, you shouldn’t bother using this method, nor reading the guide in the first place.
My advice is to learn patience, and still use this guide if you plan on farming
Patience will be paid.
Here I will explain you why farming herbs is a much better way to train your farming, than the more commonly done Trees and Fruit Trees methods.
I will also give explanations on how to do your herb runs as efficient as possible, with different requirements.
This guide will be focused on Snapdragon seeds as they are the best gp/xp wise.
This can ofcourse be done with any Herb seed.
I advise to use Ranarr seeds from 32-62 Farming, using the same methods as in this guide.
.:Calculations:.
These are somewhat rough calculations of what you’ll be looking at when Farming herbs. Based on this info you should decide if you want to use this method.
62-99 Farming on Snapdragon Seeds profits you a minimum of 417,5M (or 517,7M with scroll of life).
This will take you a total time of 230 hours, and 280 hours at most, spread out over a total of ±835 days, being 2 years and 4 months.
Resulting in being a minimum of 1,49M/hr (or 1,85M/hr with scroll of life).
Now looking at the more commonly used option, Farming Trees and Fruit Trees; you will spend 200-300m on getting 99 Farming this way, opposed to Farming Snapdragons you’re going to be looking at A DIFFERENCE OF ATLEAST 600M AND AT MOST 800M in your bank!
Conclusion:
People get 99 Farming for the cape! Not because of the uses 99 Farming has (basically next to none). Now why would you rush over to get 99 Farming as fast as possible, and still continue playing after that, or have patience and end up with 99 Farming and a bank 600-800m higher than if you would have rushed it over?
The choice is yours, again patience will be paid.
.:Herblore and Farming herbs:.
This is split up in 2 guides, each with their own requirements, however I will be drawing a line at certain requirements you simply must have, or Farming herbs is simply not worth it for you.
.:Must have requirements:.
- Magic Secateurs (Fairy Tale I – Growing pains) for 15% more harvest!
- Ectophial (Ghosts Ahoy) for fast access to the Port Phasmatys Farming patch.
- Explorer ring 3 or 4 (From Lumbridge tasks, very easy to get and definetely a must.)
- Trollheim teleport (Death plateau, Troll Stronghold, Eadgars Ruse) to be able to Farm on 5 patches, the 5th never dieing!)
- Scroll of life (From Dungeoneering, if you read the intro, you should know this is a lot of potential profit! It’s very easy to get as it is only 10k tokens for permanent use! This scroll will give back an average of 1 snapdragon seed per 10 seeds planted, and sometimes another herb seed, even possibly an expensive torstol seed.)
If you do not have these requirements, get them!
- Optional: Falador Shield 2+ for 10% more harvest at Falador Herb Patch.
.:Herb Patches:.
Always clean your herbs while running to the next patch, and NOTE THEM on the leprechauns next to the patches.
.:General Farming gear:.
Keep your weight low, and fuctionality to the max.
The more weight decreasing gear you use, the better.
The higher your Agility level and transportation methods, the fewer weight decreasing items you'll need.
Always wear a glory, incase you mess up with teleport runes you will always have quick access to a bank.
.:Slowest herb run:.
.:Fastest herb run:.
Hopefully this guide was helpful to some of the patient people on here, or inspire some people to become patient.
I know there’s next to no pictures in this guide, simply because they aren’t really needed.
I’m open to all feedback, questions or suggestions so feel free to post below!

.:Calculations:.
These are somewhat rough calculations of what you’ll be looking at when Farming herbs. Based on this info you should decide if you want to use this method.
- Spoiler:
- - You get an average of 6,5-6,7 herbs per patch (including dead patches)
- You get an average of 76k xp per 100 seeds you farm, being 760xp/seed.
- 62-99 Farming would require ±16700 Snapdragon seeds planted and harvested.
- Taking a maximum of 5 minutes per herb run, 62-99 Farming would take you a total of 280 hours at most, and more likely 230 hours with faster runs requiring better items. (if you planted 5 seeds per run).
- You earn an average of 25k gp/seed (Taking current base prices, and excluding the scroll of life from Dungeoneering. If you include this scroll you will get an average of 31k gp/seed.)
- 62-99 Farming would profit you a minimum of 417,5M taking current base prices.
OR a minimum of 517,7M taking current base prices, including the scroll of life from Dungeoneering.
- Now to conclude, 417,5M/280 hours = 1,49M/hr
OR 517,7M/280 hours = 1,85M/hr
- How long would this take in reality?
Doing 4 herb runs a day, you would need a total of 835 days to do this, being 2,3 years which is 2 years and 4 months.
- Average profit per year: 189M
- Average profit per month: 15,75M
- Average profit per week: 3,5M
- Average profit per day: 500k

.:Herblore and Farming herbs:.
- Spoiler:
- - You can combine your herb Farming with Herblore, but I do not advise this.
- Cleaning all your Farmed Snapdragons and turning them into Super Restore potions would give you a total of 17M Herblore xp.
Ofcourse you would only have to do a certain amount of them, as most people prefer to do extreme pots and overloads after 90+ Herblore.
- BUT the major downside of this, it would completely destroy your profits, and would not make this method worthwhile!
This is split up in 2 guides, each with their own requirements, however I will be drawing a line at certain requirements you simply must have, or Farming herbs is simply not worth it for you.

.:Herb Patches:.
- Spoiler:
- If you do not know where the Herb patches are, or how to reach them, have a look at this, I will not explain this in detail.
http://www.tip.it/runescape/?page=farming_guide.htm#vegetable
Always clean your herbs while running to the next patch, and NOTE THEM on the leprechauns next to the patches.
.:General Farming gear:.
Keep your weight low, and fuctionality to the max.

Always wear a glory, incase you mess up with teleport runes you will always have quick access to a bank.
.:Slowest herb run:.
- Spoiler:
- Requirements:
- All of the must have requirements
- 45+ Magic (unless using Camelot teletab)
- Skills Necklace or Combat Bracelet (For Fishing Guild/Ranging Guild teleports)
Inventory:
Note: Only bring 10 seeds and supercompost if you plan on logging out, bring just 5 of each on a normal run.
Air and Fire runes could be combined in Smoke Runes to save inventory.
Run:
The order in which you do your run won’t matter, as long as you end at the Trollheim patch if you plan on logging out (Because when you log back in, this will save you the time of having to run there again.
These runs should take you a maximum of 5-6 minutes.
.:Fastest herb run:.
- Spoiler:
- Requirements:
- All of the must have requirements
- Ardougne Cloak 4 (From Ardougne tasks, for unlimited Ardougne Herb patch teleports, alternative is Ardougne Cloak 2 giving just 1 teleport a day).
- Lunar spellbook (For Catherby Teleport, quicker access to the Catherby patch) However if using Lunar spellbook, you must have done Love Story quest, to be able to chip Trollheim teletabs.
Inventory:
Note: Only bring 10 seeds and supercompost if you plan on logging out, bring just 5 of each on a normal run.
Run:
The order in which you do your patches is important, to get the fastest run possible you have to look at the time it takes to clean your herbs and note them.
It is best to start off with your Ardougne Cloak 4 teleport patch, as you’ll have an empty inventory.
After this you should go to the Port Phasmatys patch and clean your herbs on the way there.
After this one you should teleport to Catherby and clean your herbs in the short run.
After this you should teleport to either Falador patch then Trollheim patch if you plan on logging out.
OR to the Trollheim patch then to the Falador patch (Where you can possibly tele to the GE with a Spirit Tree planted in the Port Sarim patch).
These runs should only take you 3-4 minutes at most.
Hopefully this guide was helpful to some of the patient people on here, or inspire some people to become patient.

You could try the combination of them, and let the herbs pay for the trees
Re: Divine Ploow’s Herb Farming Guide
I guess that could work :O

I think I'll do snap dragons from now on, 69 farming. Been doing toadflax seeds for a long time.

Toadflax are good money, but the xp is just too bad to make them worth it imo.
Re: Divine Ploow’s Herb Farming Guide
Going to add JuJu farming potion section?
It gives a one in three chance of picking twice the amount of herbs from a herb patch.
It's worth adding as it greatly increases the amount of herbs gained.
This way, you'll be getting 10 herbs on average

I haven't tried the minigame out, how long does it take to get a potion like that and how long does it work for?
Re: Divine Ploow’s Herb Farming Guide
The potion lasts for 5 minutes, which is more than enough time to do a full herb run.
I'm not sure how long it takes as i only do tree runs now.
Here's a video of someone doing it.
(Shows profit in one farm run with a before and after(800k)).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHIM13zMOKI
EDIT: This is with torstols, although the same example applies.
EDIT EDIT: Extra herbs received from the effect of the potion don't add towards your exp gained.

Intresting video, however right now I'm just curious about how hard it is to get a potion like that, if you can make large quantities easily it is worth it, but if you're limited to something like one a week, it really isn't.
+rep for sharing the info.
Re: Divine Ploow’s Herb Farming Guide
You have to grow a herb at herblore habitat to make the potion, there are 2 herb patches there for doing so. You also have to catch a certain type of jadinko. The pots are quite easy to make, I've made 100-200 in an hour there, and that was half messing around, there is alos a deposit box there.

+rep to you too, seems like its definetely worthwhile.
The guy in the video says its 30-40% more harvest which seems accurate from what I've seen/read around now.
I'm going to have a look at the rates tomorrow then.

Why should we clean the herbs before noting them?

Because clean sells higher generally.

Last time I did a snap herb run grimy sold 5% higher than clean, it seems smarter to note them grimy and check prices before you decide to clean them

Good guide. Nothing new for me, but sure handly for someone new. +rep
Using Falador shield gives small experiemence bonus from herbs in Falador patch, but it weights something like 7kg.
Also if you dont have Ardougne cape 4 then using Skills necklade teleport to Fishing guild(Or if using Lunar then tele Fishing guild) is faster than running from Ardougne or Catherby.

Also, not sure if it was on purpose, but you have a spoiler in;
'must have requirements' (a spoiler in a spoiler) -~Although the spoiler isnt actually a spoiler. - if that makes any sense.
Infact, just have a look, you'll see what i mean.
+Repped as i forgot to previously.

Re: Divine Ploow’s Herb Farming Guide
Sorceress Garden is a good way to get to 62 if you don't want to waste time planting the herbs. You can make 200k geepees per hour and 3k farming xp per hour. Will get you money and exp. Once you get to 62 you can continue with the actual farming. It's also a good thing to do while waiting for your herbs to grow. It provides a bonus exp and money boost during your farming.
Good guide *Facepalm*
