DoYouPlay_RS' Complete Guide to 1-99 Thieving!
What’s up Smokin Mils? DoYouPlay_RS back with another guide, this one being 1-99 Thieving. According to the Runescape Wikia, “Thieving is a members-only skill that allows players to obtain coins and items by stealing from market stalls, chests, or by pickpocketing non-player characters(NPCs). This skill also allows players to unlock doors and disarm traps.” This guide teaches you the best methods and alternative methods to getting that awesome 99 Thieving skillcape. Enjoy
First off, lets get into the forms of Thieving
Pickpocketing
Pickpocketing is the most common form of Thieving. It involves going up to a select amount of NPC’s and right clicking them and selecting “pickpocket.” As usual, the higher the player’s level is, the greater variety he or she has to pickpocket. If successful, you receive coins and other nifty stuff depending on the NPC. Unfortunately, there is a chance of failure. If you fail, the NPC will yell “What do you think you’re doing?” and you lose 10-50 lifepoints depending on the NPC. Keep in mind Protect from Melee will not protect from this, so bring food/familiars, preferably cakes because they are lightweight and heal a good amount at a time. According to RS Wikia, you can pickpocket from the front, but pickpocketing from the sides or the back reduce the chances of getting caught. This is unconfirmed at the current time.
Stalls
Around Runescape, specifically Ardougne, there are a handful of stalls scattered about. To steal from a stall, simply left click it if it has the options, which not all do. If an NPC spots you, they prevent you from thieving from stalls. Therefore, steal from an angle in which NPC’s have a tough time viewing you from. The higher the level requirement if for a stall, the longer it takes to respawn. Keep in mind that without a Vial of stench (a) you will be unable to purchase from that stall for 20 minutes. Beware, some NPC’s send guards to attack, so bring more caek!
Doors
Certain doors are unable to be opened in Runescape – unless of course you pick locks on them. To do this, right-click certain doors and select “pick lock.” Keep in mind, some doors require lockpicks to open.
Blackjacking
I will not go into great depth on this, but blackjacking…ok, haha…involves whacking someone across the head with a blackjack and looting them before they wake up and get pissed.
Boosting your Level
Don’t have the level requirement to do something involving Thieving? Well, a nice boost sounds just like the thing for you! Bandit’s brews increase your level by 1, yellow spicy stews increase your level by a max of (or it can lower it 6 levels) and a summer sq’irk juice from Sorceress’ Garden increases it by 2. Gloves of silence are also good to have because they increase the success rate in pickpocketing. Keep in mind, each time you get caught pickpocketing, they degrade, but you can repair them using dark kebbit fur on them with a needle, knife and thread in your inventory. Also, the Ardougne cloaks give you better chances of stealing or pickpocketing stuff. Now, finally, time for the methods!

Recommended Inventory
Your inventory should have cakes or better (cakes recommended), Enhanced Excalibur if you have access to one, or a bunyip/unicorn stallion with scrolls for healing.
Worn Euipment
Gloves of Silence
Boots of Lightness
Agile Top/Legs
Ardougne Cloak 1-4
Maple Blackjack (o)
Wielded ranging weapon without ammo to prevent accidentally attacking your target
Main Methods
1-5 – Pickpocketing Men or Women (Edgeville) 3gp
The house near the Edgeville bank is heavily populated by Men and Woman. Go there and pickpocket until level 5
.
5-20 – Baker Stalls (East Ardougne Market) Cake, Bread, Chocolate Slices
You can use the food received to heal damage dealt from guards.
20-35 - Male H.A.M. Members (H.A.M. Hideout) HAM Clothes & More
Wearing H.A.M. clothes decreases the chances of you getting caught.
35-70/95/99 - Advanced Chests (Thieve’s Guild) Red Hanky
I personally did this up to 63 and am still doing it. You need a lockpick for this – buy one from the GE. While waiting for the advanced ones to respawn, go to the simple ones across the hall.
70-99 – Monkey Knife Fighters (Ape Atoll)
After completing Do No Evil, you can go back to Ape Atoll and loot these guys. You need a Gorilla Greegree for this, keep in mind. While gorilla form, right click and punch the monkey. If successful, pickpocket it twice. Loot includes dragon scimitars, which add to the profit per hour. Total exp/hour is 320k exp an hour according to rs wiki.
95-99 – Master Farmers (Draynor Village)
I personally hate these guys At level 95, expect 600k an hour along with 70-100k exp.
Alternative Methods
20-99 – Pyramid Plunder (Sophenium)
This is an addicting activity involving going into a temple and looting chests and vases. I will not go into depth, but there are guides in the activities forum for this.
65-91/99 – Menaphite Thugs (Pollniveach)
Lure and knock out these thugs until 99. Bring noted foo, as you can sell it at the general store and buy them back. A bank Is in Sophaneum after Contact!
55-99 – Knights of Ardougne (Ardougne)
After level 75, the failure rate reduces a good chunk.
65-99 – Sorceress’s Garden
If you like tons and tons of bots, welcome to Sorceress’s Garden. You can get 25k an hour in the summer garden an hour. Lag is bad here. I will not go into depth, so look up a guide on it in the activities section.
99 – The Skillcape
So, finally, you have done it. You have reached 99 Thieving after countless hours of effort and “excitement.” Go to the Rogue’s Den in Burthorpe and get that skillcape, congratulations!
