Re: Artistic Blur CnC Pit
It is harder for the eye to focus on blurred objects, it will naturally be drawn to things in focus/sharper. Therefore mildly blurring peripheral areas of the render/focal point enhances the focal, technically it also improves flow and has the added effect of increased blending with the background.Broeder wrote:Yep, so why did you blur the cape as much as the background?
I'll just point at that and blurring on the focal like that should be mild, I agree with Bro's implication that you did it a wee bit too much originally Some blurring = good.
Re: Artistic Blur CnC Pit
I just saw that you duplicated the render multiple times, if you did that to give the impression of depth then let me tell you thats hardly ever a good way to cause depth. if you however added that to add some dynamics to the sig, then while it could be a good idea you arent experienced enough to pull it off and so i would advise against doing that anytime soon
Now try to add things that are in front of the render, and wonder yourself if you should sharpen or blur that and how much

Yeh I I noticed the torch in the renders hand so I thought it would be cool to do that.
Going to start adding stuff infront now.

I have an annoying feeling that it either varies from sig to sig OR you're supposed to blur ithelloim96 wrote:Ohh also if it's in front i'm guessing shapen. Maybe

BTW try to tone down on the double posts? Use the edit button.
Re: Artistic Blur CnC Pit
if you focus on something irl, do you see things that are closer to you and you arent focusing on more clearly than the thing you do focus on ?

Re: Artistic Blur CnC Pit
Sharpened
Blurred
From looking at these both I personal think you sharpen other than blur it looks right.
Edit: Does anyone now think I've mastered the basics of depth and I should move on, or should I take another shot?

Re: Artistic Blur CnC Pit
Well you should definitely blur things that are out of focus, even if they are closer to you than the focal point So no sharpening, keep that for what you actually want the viewer to focus on
Do you see how much better the bottom sig is compared to what you started with? And thats just from adding depth to it.
Next you might want to work with lighting or flow

Mastering any aspect of art takes more than editing 1 signature... You've merely grasped the basics. Just keep on practicing!

Hm... Nice piece Josh. However the only thing I don't really like is the lack of a light source. Can't really find anything else wrong with it atm but it is getting lateJosh Designs wrote:

A 1000 times better than your first tries, just shows how much is to gain when you really think about what you do

I spent over 35 minutes on this thing. And yes, it's supposed to be hard to read.

Seeing as you were aiming for it to be hard to read, I don't see much else wrong with it. Seems rather slick and professional. I like it

Honestly, the flow around the person seems OK, but the orange/brown after the pinkish glow doesn't seem right, flow wise. The entire image seems over blurred, minus the render. Over blurring can make/break a piece.

Will edit this post with results.
Old one
New one for this I unblured the background a bit and tried to stick with the colour scheme improvement?

Re: Artistic Blur CnC Pit
Presenting the greatest two images I've ever created; as mentioned by Atlas.
"[20:47] <@Atlas> Whoa, PredatorGFX_, I must say this is quite awesome: http://puu.sh/1NkWd
[20:48] <@Atlas> Wish I had thought of that lol it's quite original imo
[20:55] <@Atlas> But seriously, PredatorGFX_. I love it because it's so original, it seriously looks like you made an imprint on the forums lol"
That's right. Don't even try and criticise these two masterpieces. You'll only make fools of yourselves as I dance around your graphical skills with my bevel and emboss tool.

Re: Artistic Blur CnC Pit
Getting some really good compositions helloim, but now you need to learn what effects you can make and how and when to use them. I;d advise you to just read and try out a lot of different signature tutorials from this site or deviantart or other places
But always remembers the technical aspects such as flow and depth etc
