Minecraft 1.6 - Read Carefully

Hello All MC Players

I set up the server where it's thoroughly backed up with the 1.5 information, and now it's running on vanilla (no bukkit) 1.6

That means that mods like breathing underwater (with the appropriate equipment), daily backups, anti griefing, guest access and placing torches underwater do not work any longer.

The world is an identical copy of the 1.5 world barring that I'm testing a new seed to see if I can get rid of that dang snow. XD

The server is white listed again which means that no guests will be able to access it until bukkit is up and running.

Just try not to test any bugs that you know about or crash the server, as it sometimes takes a few hours for me to find out and restart things.

BACK UP YOUR PERSONAL minecraft.exe, minecraft.jar and your %appdata%/.minecraft folder before you update!

When bukkit 1.6 is released the I'll restart the server using bukkit. Until then enjoy your nether and maps. =)

If you update to 1.6 before the server updates then you will NOT be able to connect to the server.

I can't update the server until bukkit updates to support 1.6, so we're waiting on them. =)

To NOT update simply select "not now" after you're prompted to update when you start Minecraft. I did just double check and the server is working fine, so we're just going to have to wait a while until we can get in the nether lol.

Unfortunately it also looks like the CPU problems will also prevent me from bringing up a "vanilla" SMP server to play on until bukkit 1.6 is released. I can't have the server brought to its knees over a threading problem or whatever is going on. =(

This could be a problem... or annoyance at the very least

Our world seed got corrupted due to a VPS crash so now my nice rainforest biome island is TUNDRA. >.<

I put the update in the main and then added another post to notify people following the thread. =)

I've not tried the seed or map yet. Mrs p has been taking up a lot of my time lately and I just came down with a sinus infection. BLEARGH. >.<

Daily backups for 24/7 servers are a must. Just keep replacing them as time goes on in a separate folder. I made this mistake when I was running my server with friends, my power went out and well, this happened:

I tried clearing it all out by hand but that was too much, plus those areas will permanently melt ice as they are not tundra biomes. The worst part about it is that I had this server before biomes were added so my 100mb's of pure tundra were ruined with these chunks spewed about. This was also the spawn point where I was building my underground city. Rookie mistake on my part.

I had backups running by that point, my mistake was not knowing that biomes were influenced and changeable by the seed. I thought it was just a weather glitch, but it wasn't until the snow didn't go away that I did some research (some days later) to discover that the biomes had changed due to seed corruption.

Once bukkit 1.6 is up, running and stable then I'm going to update the server, make sure everything is working, and then try to change the seed to see if I can get something that's not quite as arctic around the spawn area and my island.
