Merchant Diaries!!!

One of the best things about this clan and it's public members is how everyone is willing to help almost anyone get ahead if they can and everyone has something more to teach or learn it seems. So with this in mind merchant diaries were invented. The aim of merchant diaries is not only to record what people are capable of, but that they explain their thinking behind how to go about merchanting and what they did. Unlike traditional logs, these are focused on teaching others more than just showing what you can do and therefore they are a great educational resource, specially to beginner merchants. As an incentive to get people back into making these again I will be locking the highest graded diary to the top of the logs section for the next month AND giving the owner this neat badge for that the month too.

The Marking

To be eligable for marking and a chance at the badge you must pm Billious on the 1st of each month with a link to your diary, which will need to have a minimum of 7 days posted on it before it will be marked for the first time (the seven days do not have to be in a single week, but all seven days should be relatively recent, say all within a couple of weeks; anything beyond this will not be accepted). Each month after this will require 10 days worth of updates before it qualifies for points (this is on a per month basis; if you do not get ten days worth of updates posted for any one month, you start the next month fresh at zero). Each marker will score it out of 30 (out of 6 max per category) and the scores will be averaged giving you X points out of the 30 maximum possible. Markers may enter but obviously can't mark their own entry and the marking group will be made up of the mentors, mentor managers and possibly a special guest marker or 2 from time to time. Once marked you will then be PM'd your final score and feedback from each marker. The criteria for marking is explained below.

[Educational Value] - Can others learn anything from it? Have you explained your thinking behind what you did? Are those reasons justified? Is the text easy to understand? Have you explained anything new, that you haven't mentioned before?

[Wealth used out of your total wealth] - Are you making the most of your bank? Are you pushing boundaries? Are you taking risks? Are you trying new items as your bank increases?

[Profits from the wealth used] - This is basically the opposite of the last category. While good merchants show that they can take risks, great merchants also show they have the wisdom to minimize risks. If you flip a low limit item and a medium limit item for the same costs and same profits you are displaying 2 different qualities. In this category the medium limit item will score higher since the prices of those items are more stable and if the price does drop on you, you have more flexibility to still profit from it by having more stock. Flipping say black masks for 1m profit will score much higher here than flipping a single drygore for the same profit.

[Amount of flips/type of flips/time invested] - Here we gauge how many flips of what type you manage to get done. While it is easy to have many active flips it is harder to do as many inactives or investments and so these give a higher mark per trade in this category. The overall effort and time invested is whats being marked here.

[Skill used] - This is all about how easily your trades are to be reproduced. Easy active flips with small margins will score low in this category, while difficult, high wealth, low limit and large profiting trades will score high.

Fonts and colours can be changed but please stick to this layout and format when posting your diary.

Starting Total Merchantable Bank is the total gp you have to trade with at the start of the week and should not include your personal items like armours, weapons etc. Likewise your Ending Total Merchantable Bank is how much you have at the end of the week. You can leave this out of your diary if you want however you must include these in your PM for marking.
