When I brought this up, someone said that the signature IMAGES had to be that size. I always assumed that those people had no idea what they were talking about.

To test the limit, I wanted to just do 30 lines of text saying random nonsense and see if my signature was removed. It probably would be. It seems like most people have signatures that violate the 250 pixel limit. Yours, Broeder, is around 300. Mine is too. Kelly's, Dual Shocks, and quite a number of others have ones that are just as tall as they are long. And I don't think that's right.

The forum rules state: Size Guidelines; 250px high by 600px wide at the most. If you're in doubt about the size of your signature then ask somebody. Smaller is always better. Signatures that violate said standards will be edited without warning.

I don't want anyone saying "well the rules change" because if they did, then it would have been changed by now. The forum rules are the rules that new people go to. It's not necessarily an important rule, but it's a rule regardless.

Too big signatures Empty Re: Too big signatures

I've made a couple of signatures that were above the height limit by about 20-40 pixels, but that was just because it was required for that particular piece. For example, I don't think Blackyy's signature should be scrutinized for its size. For what it is, it would be very hard to make a signature like that under 600x250x. However Kuston's AC stuff needs to be hidden in a spoiler.

You're telling me that the entire 700 pixels (3 buttons, >2< signatures STACKED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER) is justified?
You're telling me that the person couldn't have added the buttons INTO the Mortal Kombat sig?
You're telling me that having 2 signatures stacked on top of each other isn't completely redundant?

One sig or the other. Not both. The buttons should be links, incorporated into the sig, or MUCH smaller.

I dont mind sigs being slightly larger than the specified (im sure mine is, haven't looked tbh) but having multiple/large space is completely pointles,, why bother? Have your sig and only your sig.

I don't think this has been enforced in awhile, but I also believe unofficially it's fine to have a spoiler containing anything that may be larger (as seen in many signatures lately). I don't really think it's a huge issue unless said signature stretches out the signature space or just causes a lot of issues – so it seems, at least.

I'm more personally bothered by the content in some of the signatures rather than their size. Dual Shock and Skrillex's signatures, for example, are very close (well, in my opinion at least) to pornographic content. "Writings, pictures, films, etc. that are designed to stimulate sexual excitement." <- one of the definitions. Only because of the younger people that lurk the forums often. No other reason

Either way, I'm really not very fussed myself Razz I'll happily oblige to any signature regulations Smile

Support, I've been thinking of this too.
Scrolling down in threads have become tiring.
I noticed that people with too big signatures can format them to become smaller but with the same info (ie if the signature got 2 images put them in the same line)

whoohoo 200th post time to update my timeline thread!

ooooh the majority on that list are Ranks+! Conspiracy conspiracy ooooh

They're too big.

also, another problem seems to be... this. and I find it way worse.

Now Kelly this isn't an attack on you lol. So don't take it that way.

I have constructed a simple diagram to better exemplify my grievances.

Badge-whoring is bad and people should feel bad. For the love of god, people need to put a limit on badges. That's a LOT of wasted space.

Too big signatures Uhyeah11

There's a big difference between badge whoring and signatures. Both use up space, but how easy is it to get 5+ badges, versus a signature that is 3-4x the space that is requested.

Have to agree; understand your point/argument Daba, but it is a lot harder to earn a badge than it is to add a signature to your sig space Razz

A limit on badges? That isn't in the rules, however the rule on Signature size does need to be enforced, however putting a limit on badges is completely ridiculous. I can see what I can do in talking to admins about enforcing signature size.

I know that people don't want to part with their badges now, but badges were limited in the past before when these forums were newer. I guess it's just like some Americans not being able to part with their guns lol.

Both do take up space, yeah, badges are more important, but there are insignificant badges still present, hell I have two of them right now (custom badge and collection badge). I wouldn't mind parting with those if it made the forums a bit more organized.

Slightly more on topic, signature sizes do need to be enforced more, it's not just the image itself but any other text that is included. My sig used to be bigger before, I trimmed it down after I resigned.

Yes, but cases like Kelly where she has a lot of badges are not really that common and when they are made I don't believe they expected someone to acquire that many badges.

However, as I stated, the signature rule does need to be more enforced some are just ridiculous.
