June 2-8 This Week On The Rift
Hello everyone and welcome to This Week on The Rift
The major talking points I want to cover this week are patch 4.9 / summoners rift visual updates / upcoming Buffs and nerfs as suggested on the PBE.

Champion changes
Karthus - got some visual updates
Braum - passive no longs stuns people with spell shields. Damage on his Q was nerfed. Resistances on his W were nerfed. Big fix on his E which now block certain effects that previously weren't blocked.
Kassadin - lowered movement speed. Nerfed the damage on his W.
Kha'zix - nerfed the damage on his Q, but made evolved Q do more damage to isolated targets. Buffed his W and the evolved version giving bonus damage to monsters. Evolved W got a slow buff and now grants vision of the enemy. His R was nerfed and no longer gives damage reduction in stealth.
Pantheon - his R now pops projectiles coming at him. He is now untargetable from when he jumps until he lands.
Rengar - can no longer attack mid jump. The bonus damage on his Q can no longer crit.
Rumble - his Q no longer does less does less damage on purple side or over extended periods of time.
Soraka - buff to her Q makes her W cooldown lower.
Jungle Changes
Jungle monsters no longer give bonus xp based on their level.
Ranked Team rewards / ward skins
Summoners now have more incentive to play as a part of ranked teams with wins giving points towards unlocking unique season 2014 ward skins and summoner icons.
Trinket wards are now affected by ward skins. In order to determine trinkets from regular wards trinkets have a yellow ring visual while regular wards have a green ring.
Skins
Pentakill mordekaiser and sona received visual updates this week as well as Woad Scout Quinn being announced.
Summoners Rift Visual Update

Summoners rift is getting a visual update so that summoners can more clearly see what is going on in teamfights. The new rift will feature a darker color in order for champions to contrast with their surroundings. Jungle camps will be getting awesome new spawn animations as well as new graphics, dragon and baron getting some new abilities and even new monsters! The VU is said to be more CPU intensive right now however it has 1/8 the polygons of the current rift and players should experience the same or higher FPS than on the current rift after launch.
The new rift also features a slightly different camera angle which allows for skillshots to be more accurate as they reach the corners of the screen. There will also be slightly more camera space at the bottom of the screen.

There are a lot of changes possible so I highly recommend reading that but here are the highlights.
There will be tiers to AD items the highest being 80. Example being 60/80/120 AP tiers.
Summoner spell Heal will be nerfed.
Items that previously had different effect durations for ranged and melee champions will be equal.
Low cost attack speed items will grant more attack speed so that you don't have to sink 3k to get some AS.
Dorans blade stats will be lowered and passive removed but it will gain a little lifesteal to compensate
Other low cost lifesteal items will be nerfed to allow for different itemization.
BotRK life steal and active will be nerfed but the passive will be buffed.
Bloodthirster stats will be buffed but the passive is deleted. A new passive will grant a shield but the price goes up.
Two new items one being useful for AD casters that grants AD / LS / CDR with a passive that restores mana and the other being a support item that grants AP/Mp5/CDR/MS with a passive that gives your teammate an attack speed buff when you heal / shield them. (doesn't work on yourself)
Mikael's crucible will give more Mp5 as well as some CDR but the price rises.
Athene's unholy grail MR and Mp5 are nerfed but the passive mana on kill/assist is buffed.
Morellonomicon AP is buffed but the Mp5 is nerfed.
Forbidden idol cost goes down.
Locket of the iron solari will use the recipients champion level to determine shield strength now.
Warden's mail and randuin's omen attack speed slow will be nerfed and randuin's loses the movement speed slow.

- Lots of people complained that Braum was overpowered as soon as he was released, I beg to differ. Though I am not complaining about these nerfs Braum is very easy to counter if you pick a poke support or a sustain support rather than the typical leona / thresh we see every game.
Kassadin - lowered movement speed. Nerfed the damage on his W.

- As far as I can tell, these nerfs didn't hurt him very much, he still has tons of mobility due to rift walk and he still shuts down mages with ease.

- I actually like these changes, they work well with his kit and make him a better jungler / assassin and less of a tank when invisible

- Much needed buff especially after that ninja "bugfix" which prevents him from casting abilities before he lands.

- This was needed as it was somewhat unfair going against a melee who could attack from 600 range twice before you had time to react.
Rumble - his Q no longer does less does less damage on purple side or over extended periods of time.

- Spoiler:
- This is a giant nerf to tank junglers and weak early junglers because now if they die early / get counter jungled then they have no way of catching back up. What is to stop jungle bullies like shaco lee sin and udyr from camping in the enemy jungle all game effectively shutting down the enemy jungler with no chance of a turn around while getting fed in the process?

- A lot of changes will be coming from these updates if they all go through, I think that ADCs are getting a significant amount of buffs with these updates and they will carry games more so because of their buffs coupled with the ability to kite bruisers better because of the movement speed slow being deleted from randuin's omen.

With 4.10 patch this will be an ADC's game and it will be interesting to see how that plays out.

Bruisers/tanks won't be able to touch ADCs because of movement speed reduction nerf on randuin's + shield on bloodthirster. Personally I can't wait for the changes to bork as thats essentially going to be an indirect buff to zed.

Funny part is jax has been nerfed pretty hard before.
His W base damage is down 25% at all ranks and his ult passive use to go 100/200/300 instead of 100/160/220. Jax is in line but, there's still kayle, leblanc, and further braum nerfs to come before the next jax nerf.

Back in 2012, lol, the game is in an entire different state from back in 2012.
Did you know why the nerfed him back in 2012? Because it used to be double bruiser bot in late season 1, and jax was picked every game along with xin(at his release) causing the community to complain about his OPness, which led to jax getting nerfed.
the game is entirely different now.
he needs a nerf.
EDIT: His base values are too high, his health is the 3rd highest in the game at lvl 1, causing him to have no trouble against champs that are supposed to shut him down early. Its too easy to get to a stage where you can duel anyone.
