[SPOILERS] Let's Chat MSI.
So (for now at least) I'm going to keep this thread updated with my thoughts and commentary on every game that happens, maybe not 100% live updates but close enough. At least for the games I watch anyway (games gonna be going very late my time). Let's see if we can get some good discussion going.
Game 1: Fnatic vs TSM
Game 2: BJK vs SKT
Game 3: EDG vs AHQ
Game 4: TSM vs BJK
Game 5: FNC vs AHQ
Game 6: SKT vs EDG
Game 7: AHQ vs BJK
Game 8: Faker vs Bjergsen
~~~~~~~~~~~
Game x: a vs b
Game 1: Fnatic vs TSM
- Spoiler:
- Fnatic team comp wants to go ham, and not some shitty ham but quality stuff.
- TSM not lane swapping, the casters are circlejerking over that fact but not saying any possible reasoning. I'd say that TSMs thinking was along the lines of: Cass in a long lane is REALLY easy to gank, reksai can set up a tent there. No need to lane swap.
- Fnatic got their gank in top first, where was reksai?? The cass pressure is just stupid. The rest of the TSM lanes are up in cs at this point though.
- TSM doing a good job surviving the pressure bot lane. Cho has an early advantage vs Leblanc with the silence-spam. Bjerg got a good cs lead but having to play aggressive for it left him open to gragas... so now LB is off to the start she needs. The Urgot pressure bot lane paid off letting Naut gank mid for another death for bjerg.
- Fnatic mid game power spikes are insane and they've snowballed. Cass doesn't exactly spike, just trends upwards, but the early feed had effectively spiked her power anyway. From the point fnatic were 6-0 kills, 2-0 dragons and 3-0 turrets the game was well and truly over.
- Fnatic team comp wants to go ham, and not some shitty ham but quality stuff.
Game 2: BJK vs SKT
- Spoiler:
- Lane swaps. Still not my favourite strat
- First blood on Faker. RIP THE GOD. BJK with the 3 person mid gank.
- SKT try the 3 man dive top, Gnar tp's to the turret to ward them away. They try it again, this time they get the kill on Sivir but trade their Reksai. Worth?
- SKT Rumble 1v1s Janna top (janna pls). SKT pick up 2 more kills mid lane with a 3v2 after a countergank. Now 1k up, <7mins in...
- Another 3v2 resulting from a countergank top lane, janna goes down again. Right after Faker's Azir solos Lulu in mid in a very close fight. 2-6 to SKT now, 2k+ up, probably all the fight BJK has to give...
- yup skt being skt. rip them turks.
- Lane swaps. Still not my favourite strat
Game 3: EDG vs AHQ
- Spoiler:
- EDG teamcomp is SOOO scary for AHQ. Ali headbutt for Karthus's defile. Everyone except Cass is really too tanky for Karthus ult, even Cass will have seraph's shield later. Urgot ult shuts down Kallista's mobility, even forgetting the monster that is hecarim that can run her down. AHQ's single chance is for J4 and Gnar to just beast the Cass, which won't even work hugely well if she is on point with her ult and lategame.
- Relatively even early game, 4-4 and mostly even gold at 11mins.
- 16minutes in EDG get a first dragon and pick up a 3 for 1 fight. Not looking good for AHQ. Hecarim has 3 kills, but so does Gnar. Top laners getting sneakily fed.
- AHQ pull the gold even again with a 3v2 gank + requiem bot lane to grab a kill on urgot and bot turret.
- Dragon 2. EDG take this one too, whilst hecarim is distracting 3 in mid. Then they win a fight 4-1. It actually looked ok for AHQ until hec homeguard/tp'd back in.
- Fight in north jungle. AHQ get a near perfect fight, blow up Cass and get great Karthus AoE. They still lose 4-2. 7-0-3 hecarim now. I think AHQ have missed their window now, even though Cass only has 1 kill everyone else on EDG is fed.
- 1 more dragon, 2 more won teamfights and a baron later. I'm calling a RIP on this game.
Game 4: TSM vs BJK
- Spoiler:
- Not much to say on the comps. Neither comp is amazing early, or late. Both are reasonably well rounded. I think this is the first time we have seen Ziggs on Bjerg though. Basically i'd put this down to skill.
- TSM winning the lane swap. Bjerg winning the mid. Even Santorin getting in the counterjungle a bit. Simply outclassing BJK.
Game 5: FNC vs AHQ
- Spoiler:
- Cassio in the mid lane this time for Fnatic, Fizz is a tricky matchup though. Lategame it'll take some big plays for her to deal with him, Cass HAS TO crush him in lane.
- Steeelback caught sleeping in tribush, oopsie.
- Both Fnatic sidelanes hit 2 first. Huni gets a big chunk out of Gnar using it.
- It looks like it's operation shut down bot lane for AHQ. A reksai gank kills Steelback again.
- Well there's Cass's lead in mid. Bait the trollpole and a gank from Sej.
- Madness botlane. A 1 for 1 dive to kill Steeelback AGAIN. Fizz roams to finish off the Urgot only for Sej to then arrive to trade her life for the Thresh. +1 for AHQ again but Cass up a tonne more cs in mid.
- And again in bot. A Sej gank followed by homeguard/tp Hec picks up a kill on thresh. Gnar tps too but almost dies for it. Oddly Thresh has 3 of 2 of AHQs kills, far from ideal.
- Huni is using his homeguard/tp ganks on cooldown. Another kill on him from bot. Shortly followed by Fizz soloing Cass in mid, I did say it was tricky. 1k lead for AHQ, still only around 13mins in.
- AHQ starting to take control. +1 kill in a fight in west jungle over blue and another in south jungle over red.
- Huni with another tp/homeguard initiate in mid lane. But as people arrive Fnatic drop like flies, +4 for AHQ. Now they are +6k and 2 drags.
- AHQ hit the big 10k lead with a 24 minute baron. I'm going to say this is over more or less.
- Cassio in the mid lane this time for Fnatic, Fizz is a tricky matchup though. Lategame it'll take some big plays for her to deal with him, Cass HAS TO crush him in lane.
Game 6: SKT vs EDG
- Spoiler:
- The big one. SKT running 5 damage threats with EDG running 1. Until Tristana scales I think EDG will struggle but if they can get through 30 minutes safely they are in business. On the other hand SKT should rule midgame with reksai rumble. Mid lane should be uneventful.
- First blood to EDG in top lane onto a lane-swapped Annie via a very early sejuani gank. SKT answer at bot-tribush with a kill onto Thresh with a vlad roam punishing a bad invade. Back to even.
- Oh dear rumble is 2 kills up now, helped by a counter gank from reksai. Tristana is losing badly on CS in bot lane, that kill on her is going to be sooo important.
- This time the top lane countergank doesnt work for SKT and rumble goes down. When he spawns he teleports right both to help with a kill on tristana and first dragon goes to SKT. How will EDG respond this time?
- EDG tries a late lane swap to get tristana some farm. This leads to trading SKTs top turret for BOTH of their own bottom turrets, not worth. SKT then capitolise on them backing to take EDGs top turret. very not worth.
- Dragon 2 is up. SKT nearly get a pick in east jungle on gnar, but they don't overextend for it, instead backing out to take blue and dragon #2. They are no over 2k up and tristana as an EDG win condition is miles away.
- SKT well into their strong midgame now. They grab some kills and mid turret in a fight at 21mins, then another kill in east jungle soon after. They are 7k up and 2 dragons now.
- EDG try to repond by throwing 4 members at rumble top lane. They take him down but lose their 2nd mid turret and 3rd dragon for it. Gnar does pick up 2nd top SKT turret but it's not much consolation.
- SKT with another fight, barely past 30minutes. 3 more kills, mid inhib and dragon #4. I'd imagine they will win when they get #5 at the latest.
- If it lasts that long, SKT take yet another 4-0 fight at 33minutes following a surrender by EDG.
- The big one. SKT running 5 damage threats with EDG running 1. Until Tristana scales I think EDG will struggle but if they can get through 30 minutes safely they are in business. On the other hand SKT should rule midgame with reksai rumble. Mid lane should be uneventful.
Game 7: AHQ vs BJK
- Spoiler:
- Gnar v Cass top. Will AHQ learn TSMs lesson and lane swap, or try repeated ganks with the reksai? TF is very vulnerable to all-ins from diana mid but if he can safely push he can help out with ult-ganks in top lane. Bot lane the sivir will be wanting to make Jinx's life a misery, between sivir and morgana shields they should be fairly safe to do so. Gragas ganks will be big, top lane to get cass going, mid because tf cant counter there or bot to keep jinx down?
- Reksai ganks bot early, easy gank if neither shields has a point in it. Gragas counters and it's a 1 for 1. Meanwhile Cass enjoys the pressure elsewhere to push Gnar back already and get herself a teleport advantage.
- Diana goes back. Tf jumps on the chance to get a 3 man gank top for kill the Cass. 3 at the top means a dragon for BJK though... this is repeated again a few minutes later, but without the dragon up for trade.
- BJK fight back. They pick up #2 dragon oddly uncontested, then Diana spots a TF and goes ham. His ult gets him out but her ignite finishes the solokill. Nearly back to even now.
- A gank top lane on cass (again) gets countered by gragas, looks to be going well then everyone else drifts in and it ends up 4 for 1 for AHQ. Jinx wasn't even there but nicked a kill with her rocket.
- More picks, bringing the gap back down to only 2k gold. Dragon #3 is up and taken by BJK. Yet again AHQ take down cass top in exchange.
- BJK were doing a good job, but AHQ get a good fight and then the baron. They have an 8k lead now.
- AHQ get dragon #4, there goes a 5 dragon win condition for BJK perhaps.
- A fair fight in mid lane, aside from the gold lead. 3+ for AHQ and bot inhib shortly afterwards. 13k gold lead, with another dragon for AHQ. That'll be game shortly.
- Gnar v Cass top. Will AHQ learn TSMs lesson and lane swap, or try repeated ganks with the reksai? TF is very vulnerable to all-ins from diana mid but if he can safely push he can help out with ult-ganks in top lane. Bot lane the sivir will be wanting to make Jinx's life a misery, between sivir and morgana shields they should be fairly safe to do so. Gragas ganks will be big, top lane to get cass going, mid because tf cant counter there or bot to keep jinx down?
Game 8: Faker vs Bjergsen
- Spoiler:
- Wildturtle on Kallista not Sivir? That's new. But being able to dodge every Urgot lock on is helpful. Mid lane will be Cassio vs Ziggs, that's a pretty even lane, let's enjoy this skill matchup.
- First blood in top lane. That was simply Dyrus playing too far up the lane and too aggressive... and again.
- Gragas caught in opposing territory and twice cockblocked escaping over the wall. Reksai then runs bot and gets a 1 for 1 trade with 2 top laner teleports. Bjerg is bullying mid though.
- TSM ganking bot over and over again, not working though. SKT gank mid for another kill (with another good escape cockblock) then countergank bot for another handful. SKT 3k up and 1 dragon.
- Monte "SKT comprehensively outplaying TSM across the map". Yup.
- Well that trend doesn't change, kills, dragons, turrets and a 23 minute baron. 11k lead. I think I'll go sleep now...
- Wildturtle on Kallista not Sivir? That's new. But being able to dodge every Urgot lock on is helpful. Mid lane will be Cassio vs Ziggs, that's a pretty even lane, let's enjoy this skill matchup.
