Long-term investments

Back in late 2011 I got an extra account to make investments on. Well, I lost the password to that account a few days after changing it. I attempted to recover it, however all that achieved was getting my account locked indefinitely, even after remembering the password. Apparently knowing all the passwords, the exact time of its creation down to a minute was not enough prove that it was mine. However, yesterday I contacted Jagex via email, with information that was perhaps half of what I knew two years ago. Well, apparently that was enough to get my account unlocked. Now, I expected to find a 100m cash pile that I knew for certain that I had on the account but that was not at all what I found.

I discovered that I had ongoing investments in my grand exchange:


Wow. 126m worth of stuff. That's more than I expected.

I wonder what's it worth now. I bet it's all crashed to the depths of hell.

Oh my. Apparently that has given me 186m of profit.

I guess the lesson from this is: losing access to an account for two years may be beneficial to your financial wellbeing and really long-term investments can be quite profitable.

Similar thing happened to me 1-2 years ago. I stocked up on addy bars for 99 smithing but never really got to use them. When I've pced them several months later I found they've doubled in price. I believe it was about 200m profit too, but not sure. Don't have any screenies

Very nice indeed - unfortunately I'm yet to have a similar experience. Previously I've held large numbers of Frost dragon bones and an 80-99 Slayer tab which all crashed pretty hard. I suppose the bones weren't too bad as I only needed them for skilling, but the Slayer tab was painful to say the least!

Be very thankful you didn't recover the account last January when infinity had tanked pretty badly. I only have set pc's recorded for the last year and a half but you can clearly see EOC killed them, which took about 6 months to recover. Still it does make you think...
