RS Companion App Discussion

RS Companion is a mobile app that has just been released that allows you to keep in touch with your friend chats, clan chats, and most importantly; it lets you buy and sell on the GE!

This is obviously a step forward for us at SM, especially those who live a busy lifestyle away from their PC.

This is the thread to discuss your thoughts on the update.

This has been out for a long time now, actually (EDIT: December 2013). It just today was given the ability to buy/sell on the ge (only if you have the new rs authenticator activated), but has had all the other options for some time. I principally used it to check my ge offers in the past, but will now most likely merchant with it too once I set up the authenticator

I used mine similar to Music previously, but now I don't see a reason to not be merching if I'm awake haha. Good luck paying attention in class now Rolling Eyes

Though there are a few issues with the code updating too fast when switching to the companion. We'll see if that gets worked out.

Was it kept under wraps? Because I myself had been searching for something like this for a long time and was not aware it even existed!

I shall be setting up my authenticator very soon as mobile merching is right up my street.

It had been advertised a lot around its release, but generally updates to it were not very well advertised since then, kinda just at the bottom of weekly updates, until this one.

The thing though is that for those who keeps a log of everything will have a harder time now unless they screen shot their history from their phones

and i dont think the screenshot shows the account name.

Its annoying that you have to jump through a few hoops to get the "app" to work. I use quotations because its just a webpage that only works on my phone if I use chrome, and if im not logged in, and if i use the google authenticator app. However it is handy to quickly check and edit ge offers while on the go

Does anyone else have extreme issues getting it to take the code? Neither my phone nor my laptop will accept the code that pops up.

Yea, the codes won't work. That being said I logged into the app with a gmail account that's not linked to my account. And also didn't scan the QR code.

A note, sometimes with the authenticator up RS Companion won't know that. So you won't be able to collect items/cash from the GE

sorry for the late post, but i just realised that if I Time out on my phone with it it'll bring me to the login page with a blank username/password fields. HOWEVER, if I refresh that page it logs me back in without asking for user/pass again. very odd

It seems like there are a few bugs that are causing issues with it.

I am getting more and more weary about using it to actually process in-game GE transactions.

Could be a means of hacking with bug loopholes etc.

^ Agreed. It's very neat, indeed, but it will at the same time deteriorate the game in a way.

I really don't play RS anymore, but if I wanted to, now, I could merch in RS3 with this app. That's both good, and bad imo.
