Gummy's Merchanting Diary
Hello all and thank you for taking an interest in my diary. I have logged over 1B profit in my merchanting log.
Feel free to suggest items to flip, keeping in mind the cash pile that I currently possess.
Feel free to suggest items to flip, keeping in mind the cash pile that I currently possess.
- Week One - July 29th - August 4th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 250M
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 345M
Weekly summary - I started my diary for a number of reasons: to educate better by explaining my flips and thought process behind doing so as well as providing information about the flips themselves, but also to kick myself back into merchanting as it used to be for me and I can honestly say I haven't had this much fun merchanting in quite a while so I hope you guys have enjoyed this week's output as much as I have. Now that I have the larger cash pile I will look to focus a bit more on some higher wealth limits to push my cash limits and hopefully produce some nice profits for you guys to see.

1 - Dragon Hatchet - 1,035,000gp - 2.36%
The Dragon Hatchet is a widely-used tool and therefore will almost always have a demand. A recent update allowing players to add the Dragon Hatchet to their toolbelt hasn't had all that noticeable an effect on the market of Dragon Hatchets in terms of demand. A low-risk, decent reward flipping item for medium wealth merchants. This flip completed in full within one hour.- Spoiler:
2 - Spectral Spirit Shield - 600,000gp - 10.35%
I used the reputable price-checking friends chat 'Nex and SS' to find the latest price reported for this item. Due to the report given, I set up a low-ball price in order to leave room for a decent margin to be made if increasing my buy price became necessary, but the shield came through within 10-15 minutes. I placed the item back in to sell just under the price reported and the sale completed within 10-15 minutes. This is a great example flip for this item and the margins one may find with it.- Spoiler:
3 - Armadyl Battlestaff - 1,350,000gp - 1.35%
The Armadyl Battlestaff was a pretty good merchanting go-to before the release of EoC, but has since become an item for inactive flipping or even short-term investing at times. These days, I find a general margin of 50,000gp-150,000gp on this staff. I purchased the lot before I went to sleep and had them sell overnight.- Spoiler:
4 - Elysian Spirit Shield - 1,000,000gp - 1.74%
Just like with the Spectral Spirit Shield shown earlier, I requested the latest report on this item in the 'Nex and SS' friends chat and placed a decent low-ball offer hoping to snag a low sale which is something that can happen quite a bit with price-checking chats. The shield came through within about fifteen minutes and sold off within another fifteen minutes. Though they have a limit of one, these shields have been known to produce some pretty nice side profits as this flip has shown.- Spoiler:
5 - Divine Spirit Shield - 1,000,000gp - .88%
As you may have noticed I have cycled through three of the four spirit shields to this point and I did this for a couple of reasons. Spirit shields as mentioned previously can be decent inactive flips for side profits, but on a more personal note I have been getting back into some of the old items that a lot of us used to count on even just months ago. Of the spirit shields so far, this one has taken the longest to complete (one hour), but the profit margin still speaks for itself.- Spoiler:
6 - Clean Torstol - 1,549,845gp - 2%
I haven't flipped herbs since near the beginning of my merchanting days many months ago, but recent flips from others returned positive results and so I took a shot myself. Herbs tend to rollercoaster in price throughout the day, but the offer will generally fill with a bit of patience. Herbs are inactive flips by nature, but can produce some nice profits for the money/time invested. This flip completed within around two hours.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 6.5M
The days review - Today was a busy day, but I managed to complete a few flips of items that I haven't flipped in quite some time along with a few others simply for good measure. A mix of actives and inactives, it wasn't too bad a day for merchanting, but I do have higher hopes for the days ahead so keep an eye out.
Date: August 1, 2013
1 - Ahrim's Book of Magic - 1,600,000gp - 3.5%
An inactive item with a low limit (5), I have never before attempted to merchant these and what better a time than the present, right? Based on the margin found here I will be returning to this item every so often as it does seem a pretty safe inactive flip and the profit/wealth used doesn't seem too bad. They came through in about 1.5 hours and finished selling off within 45 minutes.- Spoiler:
2 - Teleport to House - 419,580gp - 43.5%
These are always in demand from the PvM/PvP population and therefore make for good flips as the one I have produced. A great profit for the wealth used allowing for a high percentage. They took a decent while to flip in full (just under one hour), but not too bad overall. A low risk, low wealth, high profit potential item.- Spoiler:
3 - Prayer Potion (4) - 299,700gp - 22.8%
With a GE limit of 1,000, potions can make for a nice bit of profit with a lower cash stack requirement. I haven't flipped potions myself in quite some time so this flip was another example of me returning to an item that a lot of us would have explored commonly for merchanting many months ago. They can be quick at times, but this flip lasted for a good two hours or so.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.32M
The days review - Today was a terrible day for merchanting in regards to item selection in my case. I attempted to flip 10-12 items, but as you can see only three of them were able to come through. Most of the rest never even bought so that was a shame. Still made some history with the Ahrim's Book as I had never flipped this before and hadn't flipped the latter two in many many months so returning to my roots was a bit of fun. Hopefully tomorrow I will have more success with item selection. May look to do some higher wealth merchanting.

1 - Armadyl Chainskirt - 325,000gp - 3.4%
With a limit of one, I suggest using the 'pc 101' friends chat in order to receive the current margin of this item. You will generally receive a report stating a 200,000-500,000 margin for this item. Low limit, low risk, low wealth item with easy profit to be made. This item averages 30 minutes - 1 hour to complete. I would go as far as to suggest this become a daily flip along with many other 'pc 101' items.- Spoiler:
2 - Bandos Chestplate - 350,000gp - 4%
Very similar to the Armadyl Chainskirt - low limit (1), low risk, low wealth item with easy profit to be made. Use of the 'pc 101' friend chat to find the current margin for the item which tends to be 200,000-600,000 at any given time. This item averages 30 minutes - 1 hour to complete. Another item to become a daily flip.- Spoiler:
3 - Armadyl Chestplate - 300,000gp - 3.3%
Another item of 'pc 101' fame, this item is similar in form to the former two flips of the day. Low limit (1), low risk, low wealth item with easy profit to be made. A general margin of 200,000-500,000 comes with this item. Flip time averages around 30 minutes - 1 hour. Also daily flip worthy.- Spoiler:
4 - Frost Dragon Bones - 429,570gp - 3.02%
Frost dragon bones have great demand in knowing they are the best bone for the best experience in the game. A high limit (1,000), lower wealth item that can provide some decent margins for easy profits. These tend to flip fairly quickly as well (less than thirty minutes for this to complete).- Spoiler:
5 - Ganodermic Poncho - 900,000gp - 5.13%
With a limit of 10, this is an example of what friend chats call a "self-check" item (to price check the item yourself). I remembered that these used to have some pretty decent margins, but were lost in the folds of time. Like many, as my cash pile grew I started to stick to the high wealth, low limit items and left items such as this behind. As you can see though, these items can be well worth the time. This item is a known inactive item and completed in about 1.5 hours.- Spoiler:
6 - Raw Rocktail - 300,000gp - .68%
My first attempt for this diary at a bulk item. Not the best of margins, but a quick profit nonetheless. The flip completed within 30-40 minutes, no problem. This is not to say that bulk flips will always be quick. In fact I have personally endured a multi-hour long bulk flip. Just a matter of item and timing.- Spoiler:
7 - Drygore Rapier - 800,000gp - .82%
I used the price checking friend's chat '90weaps pc' to receive the latest report for this item. With drygores, it is always a good idea to shoot for around a 1M profit and work your way inward if necessary. The report provided was 98b (b = instant buy/non-instant sell) so I placed an offer a cut above 97 and it bought within 15 minutes. Sadly in this instance the price dropped right as I made the purchase and so I was made to weather the storm and catch it back on the rise. After 3.25 hours it sold for a decent profit.- Spoiler:
8 - Ragefire Boots - 900,000gp - 1.7%
An item that I price check near daily for good margins, Ragefire Boots (along with the other two Glacor boots: Steadfast and Glaiven) are some of the most common boots in the game among med-high level players keeping them in quite nice demand. These tend to be inactive flips, however this lot completed within less than one hour which is great. Generally, the Ragefire (magic) are the cheapest of the Glacor boots, however recently Glaiven (range) boots have slumped to the lowest of the three in terms of price.- Spoiler:
9 - Arcane Spirit Shield - 500,000gp - 2.32%
The fourth and final spirit shield flipped and added to this diary's collection. A medium-wealth, low limit (1), low risk, easy profit flip very similar to the Spectral. These can take an hour or two at times, but this shield was bought and sold within 15 minutes total. In this case, there was no pc'er in the 'Nex and SS' fc so I referred to their thread on the RSOF (Nex and SS Status V8) for the most recent list.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 4.8M
The days review - After a horrible day of merchanting yesterday, I managed to bounce back today, tripling the amount of flips produced as well as doubling the profit. A lot of inactives with a couple actives mixed in, I went with a range of items from low limit to bulk limit items and low wealth to high wealth items. Very experimental, nicely profitable day.
Date: August 3, 2013
1 - Magic Seed - 297,000gp - 1.36%
With a limit of 100, seeds can make for a nice bit of side profit from time to time. I generally find this seed specifically with a margin between 100gp-1500gp, but here I managed to catch it with a 5,000gp margin (flipped for 3,000gp/seed). I would classify these as a generally inactive with this flip taking 1.5 hours for completion.- Spoiler:
2 - Astral Rune - 274,989gp - 4.3%
First time I have flipped runes since basically the first couple days of my merchanting experience back in October of last year. Most times, most runes will have very small margins of 1-3gp though it is possible to catch them with larger margins (this rune had a 13gp margin, flipped for 11gp/rune) for even greater profits. Runes are generally an active item, however this flip lasted for 2.2 hours. Low wealth, no real risk, decent profit item.- Spoiler:
3 - Blue Dragonhide - 899,910gp - 2.64%
The first attempt at dragon leather in this diary was a good success. With a limit of 10,000, dragon leathers can be quite profitable (making up to a few million in profit at times). Dragon leathers are inactive flips and require at least med wealth in order to take advantage of the limit. This flip ended up lasting for about six hours as the last 650 hides stalled in selling off.- Spoiler:
4 - Infinity Robes Set - 822,222gp - 3%
Unfortunately only two managed to come through, but a nice profit all the same. This item has a limit of 10, but is a highly inactive item and will require many hours to fill in most cases. Not the best item to put money into unless specifically looking for inactive items or have plenty of money to put into these on the side while completing other flips. These two bought within one hour, decided to sell after a couple hours - instant sold above my sale price.- Spoiler:
5 - Dragon Platebody - 900,000gp - 1.51%
Another inactive item with a limit of ten, I was originally asked to flip these during my time in what used to be the Inactive/Overnight mentor group. At times, these can have well-sized margins (few hundred thousand) making for a great flip. This lot bought and sold within 2.5 hours.- Spoiler:
6 - Steadfast Boots - 1,750,000gp - 2.1%
The melee boots of the Glacor boots, these are the second I have flipped for this diary. These have become a common check item for me and can produce very nice profits. I price-checked the item and set it to buy a bit lower than the low price. Unfortunately only five came through, but better than nothing. After log in, I cancelled the offer and placed the five in to sell a cut below GE mid - sold within five minutes.- Spoiler:
7 - Yew Logs - 199,992gp - 1.3%
Yet another bulk limit item (25,000) that I may never have flipped again had it not been for the creation of this diary. Not the largest of profits, but a decent bit for a low wealth flip that completed in less than one hour. Logs in general don't usually have large margins (very similar to runes in fact) so adding only 1-2 gp to the low and subtracting only 1-2 from the high can go a long way with items like this.- Spoiler:
8 - Mithril Bar - 649,935gp - 3.5%
The bulk items continue on this day. With a limit of 10,000, bars can make some very nice profits for the wealth used. Originally pc'ing adamant bars, I found a great margin on mithril and set the flip for a 65gp/bar profit. Bars also tend to be inactive flips, this example flip lasting two hours from set of purchase to sale complete.- Spoiler:
9 - Karil's Pistol Crossbow - 2,000,000gp - 11.7%
An unintentional two-day inactive that finally completed with a nice profit. This item is a great example of finding a huge margin (700,000gp), but it not necessarily being worth the time put in nor the wealth used being tied up. Average time between sales - 12 hours.- Spoiler:
10 - Drygore Mace - 800,000gp - .75%
The drygore items have been giving me fits the past few days and I needed to overcome this so I entered '90weaps pc' friends chat and observed the latest reports. As I mentioned before with drygores, it is good to use a 1M margin start-up and move inward if necessary. With a report of 108b I placed my offer of 107.1M - it bought within 15 minutes, but again lowered on me right after purchase. I put the mace back in to sell at the pre-selected high and simply let sit. Drygores have been relatively stable overall so I pretty much knew it would go back up. Took two hours to sell, but even so.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 8.6M
The days review - Today was a day filled with revisiting a number of items and types that I had not flipped in many many months. Plenty of bulk items and the occasional half-sale (robe sets / pistol crossbows) and plenty of profit made. Tomorrow I may look to press more high-wealth items/limits to press my cash pile a bit more.
Date: August 4, 2013
1 - Dragon Chain Armour Set (lg) - 2,250,000gp - 8.2%
Great profit on what became an overnight flip (lasted anywhere from 14-21 hours). The dragon chainbody used to be THE body, but I check them now and again and usually they don't have much of a margin so I took a stab at the armour set. Turned out it had a great margin, but to be honest I didn't expect it to take as long as it did. With a limit of 10, these can make some great profits without breaking the bank.- Spoiler:
2 - Barrows - Akrisae's Set - 1,305,000gp - 17.5%
Very similar to the Dragon Chain Armour Set, this flip lasted 24 hours and I was not expecting that length of time. I am satisfied with the results, however as the cash used was minimal and profited very well. Inactive items such as this can generally be found with large margins and while the demand is low and forces a longer duration of time to complete, the profits in the end can make it worth the time put in. Like the other barrows set, these have a limit of 10.- Spoiler:
3 - Torva Full Helm - 900,000gp - .64%
Naturally I wouldn't have simply flipped these (always been more of a short-term investment item for me), however I did this to show that a simple "quick" flip of them can provide a decent profit as well and this way you also don't tie up so much money for an extended period of time. I used the 'Nex and SS' friends chat to receive the latest report on the item and placed my offer from there. The Torva Full Helm (along with other Nex gear armour pieces) have a GE limit of 2.- Spoiler:
4 - Armadyl Godsword - 900,000gp - 1.71%
These have been giving me trouble lately as I would find a great margin (100,000-200,000), but after hours not one would buy, but I've now overcome this issue and profited yet another 900,000gp on a flip for this diary. These at times can provide 1M-2M profits for a limit and are pretty good items for short-term investments. These have a limit of 10 which is linked with the other godswords (meaning if you buy 7 Armadyl Godswords and 3 Bandos Godswords - that is your godsword limit).- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 5.35M
The days review - I did attempt to flip some higher items/limit prices in order to push my cash pile, unfortunately a lot of items never came through. What I did manage to flip today went pretty well I believe and I'll be back again tomorrow doing more of what I love - merchanting.
Date: August 5, 2013
1 - Pernix Chaps - 800,000gp - 1.38%
Pernix is a high level, high wealth range set with a high demand for big PvMers. The pieces have a limit of two and at times can provide amazing margins. While I personally find these items best for overnighting/short-term investing, I completed this flip similar to the Torva Full Helm flip from yesterday and sold them as quickly as I could for as well a margin as I could. The 58M was tied up for 4-5 hours so it's not the best of profits made, but inactives also allow for time away from the GE and that's what makes it worth it.- Spoiler:
2 - Torva Platebody - 1,500,000gp - .61%
This used to be one of my favorite flips as it would bounce back and forth between nearly set highs and lows making it very simple to inactive flip for multiple millions profit. That has changed quite a bit however and they have become more-so stable in comparison so I settled with a simple inactive flip. I wanted to flip something that would really press my cash pile and with a limit of two, this seemed a great choice to do just that. Not a bad profit for a few hours time.- Spoiler:
3 - Zamorakian Spear - 900,000gp - 1.87%
A commonly-flipped item with a limit of 10, these at times can provide amazing flips. Generally relatively quick, this specific flip ran on for just under three hours which is abnormal, but price shifts to happen and that was the case here (actually lowered my sale price by 50,000gp). This is another item I would suggest to at least price check daily.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 3.2M
The days review - Had a fairly busy day today and similar to previous days I was having trouble getting offers to fill so not a very good day for merchanting in my case. I have the cash pile to add in one of my new go-to and favorite items in Ascension Crossbows so will be looking to get back into those tomorrow as well as making a few attempts at an item set that I've yet to take a stab at for this diary.
- WEEK TWO -August 5th - August 11th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 340M
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 436M
Weekly summary - I tried to cover more of the higher wealth, lower limit items this week to extend the push to use up and risk more of my cash pile. Wasn't quite able to extend it to the point that I wanted, but I did what I could. Definitely a busier week this week managing to flip only 1/4th the amount that I finished in Week One of this diary, but my mind was pre-occupied on other things a lot this week so it should pick up again coming into Week Three.
Date: August 6, 2013
1 - Torva Platelegs - 1,700,000gp - .99%
Another flip completed through the use of the 'Nex and SS' fc and their respective thread on the RSOF. Unfortunately as you can see from the images I actually lost 1.9M from the Torva Full Helms I was flipping alongside these legs which was unfortunate, but losses happen to everyone from time to time. These also have a limit of 2/4 and used to be one of my go-to's for inactive flipping for multiple millions in profit.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.7M
The days review - Sadly was only able to complete one flip today, but it happens from time to time between real life commitments and other in-game commitments so will look to do better tomorrow.
Date: August 7, 2013
Daily profit - 0M
The days review - Have had my mind on a number of things today plus have had my money tied up in two different inactive flips/short-term investments so today ended without a single flip.
Date: August 8, 2013
1 - Royal Dragonhide - 516,920gp - 2.27%
An inactive flip with a limit of 10,000, I decided to flip dragonhide as it's yet another item type I have yet to flip for this diary. I selected royal specifically as a couple colleagues of mine in the Mentor System have discussed overnighting these for some rather decent profits and figured I would give them a go myself. I left the buy offer in overnight, but sadly the full limit wasn't purchased. Not a bad profit for what I was able to receive as the price had risen overnight - instant sold the lot in the morning.- Spoiler:
2 - Master Wand - 315,000gp - 3.65%
Suggested by Kelly, these have a limit of 10 and have been known to provide some pretty good margins, especially for the low amount of wealth needed to flip the limit. The flip lasted for just under two hours so overall I'm content with the outcome. Many months ago, I had flipped these with a margin of 500,000gp. Not really sure if that's a possibility now (perhaps in an investment), but a 35,000gp margin as this was definitely isn't the best this item can produce and I would recommend this item for low-wealth players to check and flip regularly.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 831,920gp
The days review - Besides the two flips that I completed, I have had the bulk of my cash pile tied up in an inactive flip that is really taking longer than I had anticipated. It's an item that I flipped quite often before I created this diary and one that I will be trying to get back into over the next couple weeks.
Date: August 9, 2013
1 - Saradomin Godsword - 2,970,000gp - .96%
I selected to flip this item for multiple reasons. First, Kelly suggested it in a comment below. Second, I have seen others flipping or even investing into these for great profits. Third, I finally have the cash pile to flip a limit of these again. Fourth, I have had horrible luck in finding margins worth the flip on these recently and wanted to get out of that hole. After finding a 420,000gp margin, I knew this was my opportunity to do just that. Saradomin Godswords are inactive flips by nature and make great investments or swing trades every so often. A limit of 10, these share a limit with the other godswords.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.97M
The days review - I actually started my day with a purchase that I made last night and put in to sell overnight. Unfortunately not only did it not sell, but actually went back down to it's new low so I placed it in for a few mill loss and moved on (the item was Ascension Crossbow so with my cash pile I couldn't afford to hold onto it). I believe I made a great decision to price check Saradomin Godswords when I did as I haven't personally caught a margin of more than 100,000gp in quite some time. Another short day of merchanting, but I was gone most of the day so I'm not really surprised.
Date: August 10, 2013
1 - Green H'ween Mask - 295,555gp - .23%
A limit of two, these generally provide a few hundred thousand profit margin though if inactive flipped or even short-term invested, these can produce 1M+ profit. The reason for not flipping the limit was due to having 140M tied up in an investment and having just shy of the gold needed to flip the limit left over otherwise this flip would have been nearly 600,000gp profit for the limit. Lower rares (halloween masks and santa hats) aren't exactly the most profitable of items generally speaking. Use of the friends chat 'R Quark' and their respective RSOF thread should be used when looking to flip rares.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 295K
The days review - Like most other nights, I had an overnight offer in to buy that didn't (same item, around the same price), but with the rest of my money tied up into an item that stopped buying before the limit filled and stopped selling before what I did manage to buy filed out. Today was a busier day out and about in that thing some people call the 'real world' so between that and offers not coming through I wasn't able to accomplish much in terms of merchanting.
Date: August 11, 2013
1 - Drygore Longsword - 1,100,000gp - 1.1%
Having flipped very little this week, I decided I would spread my money out across a number of items from the Drygore weaponry line given by the '90weaps pc' friends chat, this being one of them. With a limit of 1, these items can make anywhere from a few hundred thousand to as high as a few million by simply active/inactive flipping them. This flip for example completed within one hour's time. Not a bad start for the final day of the week.- Spoiler:
2 - Off-hand Drygore Mace - 700,000gp - 1.74%
The second Drygore flip of the day, these had held steady at a pc of 41b since yesterday evening and so I placed my buy offer keeping in mind that you should be shooting for around a 1M profit at the start and 'lowballing' the pc'ed price to some extent as they fc does round their prices. On this one specifically, I had noticed that a few others I had bought had dropped in price so to play it safe, the 700,000gp profit was what I specifically shot for from the start just to try and ensure it would sell off.- Spoiler:
3 - Torva Platebody - 3,200,024gp - 1.41%
Using the 'Nex and SS' fc for the latest reported price, I ended up instant buying these for well below the price stated (2.5M cash back between the two) so bad start to the flip. I decided to put them in at a bit higher a price than I normally would have as I was going to sleep and figured I would give the price a chance to take a small bounce before continuing down - good call. By morning, one had sold for my price (115.7M) and as you can see, I had to sell the other quite a bit lower in order to catch the falling price. Not bad for an overnight flip, but there are quite a few Nex and SS items that could make for good inactives/short-term investments so something to keep your eye on.- Spoiler:
4 - Torva Platelegs - 700,000gp - .45%
While in the 'Nex and SS' fc for the Torva Platebody merch posted above, I noticed a continuous small rise and fall in Torva Platelegs and decided I would jump into it for a quick profit. What is generally considered an inactive flip, these two actually bought and sold within a 25-minute span. As mentioned with the Torva Platebody, there are quite a few Nex and SS items that could make for good inactives/short-term investments as many items are coming up to their lowest of the lows of the past few months.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 5.7M
The days review - Day started off on a good note, started slowing down a bit further in, picked back up into the afternoon, then slowed at the end. Not the greatest days for merchanting, but tomorrow is a brand new day and perhaps I'll have a streak of luck and even things out. Still haven't managed to successfully get a flip on what had become my favorite flip, but I'm still working on it.
- Week Three - August 12 - August 18th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 420M
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 420M
Weekly summary - The first thing to notice is that my starting merchantable wealth and ending merchanting wealth are one in the same. You would think with the current economy collapse that lowballing and inactive/overnight flipping would be profitable to no end, but the items are simply falling far too quick to really make a move. I bought an Ascension Crossbow for 226, one minute later someone reports instant selling for 224 while someone else reports ins off-hand for 227 and so I switch it to off-hand and put it in for 227. Another minute later the guy reported another ins of off-hand ascension for 226 so I lower mine to 225.5. I ended up selling it for 223.2M. While in the end I'm simply back where I started (420M), this has truly been the worst week of merchanting I have personally ever experienced.
Date: August 12, 2013
1 - Divine Spirit Shield - 2,000,000gp - 1.86%
One of many 'Nex and SS' items that have been crashing substantially for the past few days to a week, I decided to place an overnight offer for two of these at a lowball figure. Not being able to sleep, I woke up to one having bought and found the latest reported price to be 109-110 so I placed it back in for the median 109.5 and about 15 minutes later I was two million richer.- Spoiler:
2 - Blood Rune - 500,000gp - 7.69%
A flip that I completed on my alternate account, I selected this item based on a thread an SM member had created a bit ago about finding good margins lately on this item and with my limited wealth on my alternate account (~6.6M at the time), these made for a good choice. Upon price checking the item and finding only a 9gp margin, I decided to overnight lowball these to try and extend the margin and so I did. I placed my buy offer for 20,000 at 325gp each and they had purchased by morning. With this, I then decided to try and push the sell a bit higher and shot for 350 (9gp margin turned 25gp margin). Unfortunately they stopped selling at 15,995/20,000 and this would remain for the next three days before today (day 4) I logged in to find the offer had completed. Waste of time for a flip generally speaking, but nothing more than a side flip on an alternate account to my main.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.5M
The days review - Was gone all of today and as you can see in the images, these flips were completed early on in the morning so lucky to have got those. Not that bad a day considering, but nothing really to report on.
Date: August 13, 2013
1 - Astral Rune - 336,000gp - 4.9%
Another flip completed on my alternate account, I extended the lower margin 9gp (254 down to 245), but due to a fall I decided to play it safe and sell at 257 (below the 260 high) as I wasn't looking for another week-long runes flip. Runes such as this can make decent, relatively quick profits whether low wealth player (great profits) or higher wealth player simply running some side flips while the main merches complete. This flip bought and sold within a day's time.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 336,000gp
The days review - Was away for a good part of the morning, around for a bit around noon before being back off the rest of the afternoon until the late evening/night. With that, not much to report on so will look to do better tomorrow.
Date: August 14, 2013
1 - Torva Platebody - 2,709,999gp - 2.64%
I was originally going to invest in this, but I noticed the price had gone up a few million before starting to fall again so decided to sell that way, if it were to continue falling, I could purchase another while still having made this profit. I have the wealth to purchase a limit, but I was also looking to invest into the Torva Full Helm and Torva Platelegs as well as Divine Spirit Shield.- Spoiler:
2 - Disk of Returning - 1,000,000gp - .45%
I wanted to do some higher wealth flipping that used up more of my bank and while I only had the money for one, it was also an item that I had not flipped before that I can recall and so I bought it last night [instant for 2.5M below the latest reported price] and sold overnight for a bit less of a profit than I originally intended. Being my first flip of the disk and the common fluctuations in price along with it tying up a bit more than half my bank, I wanted a bit more assurance that it would sell overnight so I could profit from the flip and have my money for continuing with merchanting. Not bad for a first flip of the item I suppose. At times, these can have a good 2M-5M window as they're not traded all that much and being high wealth allows for more movement within the price margin.- Spoiler:
3 - Divine Spirit Shield - 2,680,000gp - 2.7%
Nothing more than a simple overnight flip really. I remembered a low of ~100 a few days back and so I placed an offer a cut above that and woke up to a completed buy offer. Entered the 'Nex and SS' friends chat for the latest report and ended up instant selling for a cut above 103 for a lovely profit.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 6.39M
The days review - Started off the day with a small inactive flip. I had noticed the general fluctuations of the Torva items and decided to take advantage of that knowledge. Became busy throughout the rest of the day leading into the night where I completed a couple of inactives (disk + divine). I had a couple of offers in to buy throughout the rest of the night, but nothing came through in time.
Date: August 15, 2013
1 - Armadyl Battlestaff - 1,125,000gp - 1.04%
An item that I check every other day or so, these can make for some pretty decent profits if even just a bit of side cash while waiting for better offers to fill. After about an hour I had to drop my sell price by a bit to get them to move as the price had dropped just a bit as I was collecting them, but not a bother. Still came out with a decent profit.- Spoiler:
2 - Green H'ween Mask - 600,000gp - .47%
A flip that I decided to do for a couple of reasons: I haven't dabbled much in rares for quite some time and high wealth with a limit of two pushes my cash pile more. Unfortunately after a few hours I only managed to buy one of two even after increasing my buy price twice and waiting an extra 45-60 minutes each. After I decided to sell the one I bought, it took a good two 1.5 hours or so to get it to sell. Not the best time spent, but 600,000gp is a decent profit for one of these masks so a limit would have been great.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.725M
The days review - Another short day in terms of merchanting. Between a morning meeting, an afternoon out and about, and an evening of setting up my Rank group I really didn't have the time to do much. The Armadyl Battlestaff was based on a daily pc I do of the item while the Green H'ween Mask was trying to flip something I hadn't in a long while while also looking to extend the wealth used in my flips. Unfortunately without the second coming through, I wasn't quite able to do what I wanted to do with it.
Date: August 16, 2013
1 - Ascension Crossbow - 2,250,000gp - .91%
My favorite flip a number of weeks ago, I eventually found myself without the cash pile to flip these. Thankfully between some hard work and merchanting (and Ascension Bows dropping in value) I am able to flip them one at a time which isn't ideal, but still progress. The Ascension Bows have kept at a rather steady margin for the past few days and so I placed a very small low-ball offer on the latest report and inactively purchased the bow. From there I didn't even check the latest reports to be honest, just put the bow back in for just below the general high of the item and it sold relatively quickly. Glad to be back.- Spoiler:
2 - Ascension Crossbow - 2,500,000gp - 1.01%
Not really a whole lot to report on here. My belief was that I did it with one, I'd bet I could do the same with the other (limit of two) and so I placed an offer just a bit lower than the first and it bought and sold in less than an hour. Pretty good if I do say so myself.- Spoiler:
3 - Black Dragonhide - 1,096,865gp - 2.42%
A fellow Rank (Isen, you can check out his diary here) loves to flip dragonhides and leathers so I figured I would give it a go and see what that's all about. Not a bad flip for a first go, though I have seen these items produce up to a few million profits so could still be better. A definite inactive flip, these can actually take a full day or even a couple of days to fully buy and sell.- Spoiler:
4 - Offhand Ascension Crossbow - 2,750,000gp - 1.12%
Seeing how well the mainhand Ascension Crossbow worked for me, I decided to try producing the same results with the offhand Ascension Crossbow. Unfortunately the item wasn't going anywhere, however I logged in after a bit to witness someone reporting an instant buy of a mainhand Ascension for 249M and so I converted the offhand to a mainhand and placed it in for 249. After about one minute it had sold. Converting costs 30K-40K (100 Ascension Shards) and is done by taking your Ascension Bow (either version) to the creature standing outside of the Ascension Dungeon a bit NE of the Oo'glog lodestone.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 8.6M
The days review - Finally a day of excitement and high wealth flipping. I've been trying to flip these bows since last week and just could not manage to make things work out, but today...today was a great day. 7.5M profit from the bows alone which isn't up to my old standard when I was originally flipping them for 4M-6M per bow, but times have changed and 2M+ profit per bow is nothing to complain about.
Date: August 17, 2013
1 - Steadfast Boots - 1,575,000gp - 1.06%
An item that I check commonly, these can provide some pretty great margins and at times are amazing for short-term investments. This flip actually took a bit longer to sell than usual (2-3 hours, this one took closer to 4-5).- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.575M
The days review - After a pretty good day yesterday, today wasn't well at all. I bought an Ascension Bow that wouldn't sell (would end up taking a near 10M loss with it dropping overnight) and a few items that just didn't have margins of interest. Tomorrow is the final day of this week's diary entries, let's see if we can make something good happen.
Date: August 18, 2013
1 - Drygore Rapier - 750,000gp - .89%
After waking up to a 10M loss on my overnight, I checked up on the current prices of a few other items and this crash has me stumped. I took that information and decided to place some lowball offers on a few select items and with the money left over made a relatively normal flip of a drygore weapon (rapier was the only mainhand drygore that I could afford with the remaining cash). Simple flip - lowballed the latest report in case of rounding + crashing items make for great lowballs, placed the offer in for a cut below the latest reported price and flip completed within a 30 minute window of time.- Spoiler:
2 - Gold Ore - 199,992gp - 1.9%
Having focused on high wealth flips the past couple days I decided to do some lower wealth flips to make some side profits as my higher offers were filling. Gold ore is high in demand with that should make for a relatively quick sale. Completed in approximately one hour. It's flips like this that help to make back what you lose from pc's or failed flips.- Spoiler:
3 - Torva Full Helm - 1,500,000gp - 2.86%
An item that I was originally going to invest in, I noticed the price had gone up and down a bit since purchase and so I decided I would simply inactive flip it to cut back on my overnight loss. I low-balled a helm below the lowest reported price and basically sold for the peak reported price so it was a good flip in that regard.- Spoiler:
4 - Torva Platelegs - 1,500,000gp - 2.29%
Similar story to the Torva Full Helm. I was originally going to invest in a full set of Torva, but after seeing the price bobbing up and down I decided to inactive flip it instead to keep my money untied and cut some losses of the failed overnight. Sniped a pair below the lowest report and sold for the peak of prices reported. Still waiting for the platebody to sell and you'll be able to read this same story for a third time- Spoiler:
5 - Off-hand Drygore Longsword - 800,000gp - 1.23%
While I was waiting for the Torva items to sell, I had some extra cash and decided to put it to use. I had already flipped the only mainhand I could afford at the time (rapier) and so I went with the off-hand longsword. Flip completed within 20 minutes. Drygores can make good, quick cash though they can also give you plenty of trouble at times.- Spoiler:
6 - Torva Platebody - 1,000,000gp - 1.02%
Speaking of that Torva Platebody flip ;)I was originally going for 1.5M on this as well, but after having it in for a couple of hours and noticing the price had dropped a bit I decided I would take the profit that I could and see my way to the next merchanting adventure. Same as the Torva Helm and Platelegs posted previously today, I was going to invest in this, but decided to take the profits able to be made now and continue to active/inactive flip instead.- Spoiler:
7 - Dragon Hatchet - 280,000gp - 1.1%
Been looking to mix in some lower wealth flips with the highs to even it out a bit and I started back with where I started at the very beginning of this diary - the Dragon Hatchet. The highest level hatchet in the game, widely used and able to be placed in one's tool-belt. Upon release of the former update, the price of the Dragon Hatchet rose before falling back and rising again if I'm not mistaken. Either way, makes for a great side flip and able to produce 1M+ at times.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 6M
The days review - Today was all about fighting with items. Started the day with a 10M loss from an overnight and decided to invest in torva + divine. After price ups and then downs I decided to simply flip the items to make a bit of that 10M back while keeping my money free to continue flipping. A couple items that wouldn't buy, some that bought but wouldn't sell, and one that did buy and sell but not in time to be added to this diary.
- Week 4 - September 2nd - September 8th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 750M
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 822M
Weekly summary - There wasn't much time to hold any focus on merchanting this week as can be seen, but there were a couple of flips that are new or that I did enjoy given the uncommon profits made from them. The White Beret was flipped to serve as a point to a mentee and anyone in general that didn't feel treasure trail items were worth doing, even as inactive/overnight items. The final Santa Hat was nothing more than an overnight item. I had that Santa in my possession for approximately seventeen hours from the point of purchase to the point of sale, not bad at all for the profit turned.
Date: September 2, 2013
1 - Ascension OH-MH Crossbow - 2,000,000gp - .42%
There are a number of times when requesting the pc of the ascensions that you will find one was last reported at a higher price than the other and if you physically observe the change as it happens, you have a small window of opportunity to purchase 1-2 of the lower bow, head a bit north of Oo'glog with the bow(s) and shards to transform it into the other-hand, then head back to the GE and make a bit of profit off the difference in price. That is what happened here.- Spoiler:
2 - Santa Hat - 1,000,000gp - .60%
I didn't actually buy this to merchant. While talking with an Admin about an SM project of mine, we got into discussing rares and with that I decided to purchase a Santa, but after taking some things into consideration and noticing that it had gone up 1M since purchase I went ahead and sold it off. It has gone up quite a few million the past day or two so no need to risk holding onto it for the almost inevitable decline.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 3M
The days review - My first day getting back into my diary in a couple of weeks. Been busy between real life dealing and other SM duties including a new one that I have taken on, but now as a Group Leader especially I owe it to my group to hold my own in terms of point contributions and this is where a good source can lie. The Ascensions are an item that I check on every single day as they tend to camp - move - camp - move - etc (meaning they find a ~5M margin and teeter back and forth for a bit, then move again to find a new ~5M margin and do the same). Very easy items to make profits from. The Santa speaks for itself in the description of the flip. 1M on one Santa for a simple inactive is pretty nice considering the general margins these tend to have (100K-300K).
Date: September 3, 2013
1 - White Beret - 4,036,632gp - 73.9%
While providing a merchanting lesson to a mentee that went over treasure trail items being good for inactive/overnight flipping, he mentioned that he didn't meddle much with treasure trail items as he finds he can make more with other items. This sounded to me as if he basically finds treasure trail items to be rather dull in terms of profits so simply to prove that statement wrong I selected the white beret. Treasure trail items are the easiest group of items to set your own prices for as the supply is so little that trade volume is low. After price checking to find a ~300K margin, I decided to up that and go for a 400K margin. Eight of the ten had sold within a day, but the last two as you can see stalled for a couple days longer, but that is the beauty of treasure trail items - they're low wealth so not a lot of wealth was tied up and made back nearly 3/4 of what I put into the flip.- Spoiler:
2 - Ahrim's Book of Magic - 880,000gp - 2.31%
An item that I have flipped only a time or two previous, this item has a limit of five and is generally an inactive flip. This lot bought and sold within a 30 minute window, selling off within three minutes of purchase. As I was waiting for the Nex and SS price checker to provide the latest report for Virtus Book, I decided to test the margins on Ahrim's Book and caught them at a pretty good time. These can provide 1M-2M profits for the limit quite often so an item to keep one's eye on.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 4.91M
The days review - Another small day in terms of merchanting. Between SM duties, real life duties, and random mid-day visit to the house I didn't have much time and a lot of the items that I did try either wouldn't buy or would buy only 1-2 before stalling for a good while.
Date: September 4, 2013
1 - Santa Hat - 1,000,000gp - .59%
Seeing as how I had made 1M on a Santa Hat two days ago, I decided I would take the risk of buying another and seeing where it went. Overnight it rose a few hundred thousand more and now has settled for a bit around the 1M profit mark of where I purchased it and so I took the profit available to me. These are very well for inactive/overnight Santa flips as generally Santas are pretty set and stable, but they have been rising for the last few days for a reason unknown to me.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1M
The days review - Yet another short day. I just haven't had much time to so much as think of merchanting.
Date: September 7, 2013
1 - Santa Hat - 5,100,000gp - 2.96%
You may have noticed that I have been flipping Santa Hats for some nice profits lately and, seeing as they had steadily been going up I decided to purchase one (for the reason of merchanting potential, but also possibly for use in the 24-event marathon that just ended). Bought during the day, kept it overnight and woke up to a 5.5M rise and there was no way that I was going to pass that up. 5M on a Santa Hat is insane, though this flip actually mirrors a flip I did many many months ago for the Flipping League. That flip can be found in my merchanting log in this same section (linked in my signature).- Spoiler:
2 - Dragon Crossbow - 1,750,000gp - 2.32%
I had heard of a couple of people finding some pretty fair margins on these and so I figured I would look into it myself. The margins weren't as well as what I had heard, but clearly well worth doing. I only purchased five as that is what bought before bed and didn't want to run it overnight. Not a bad profit for a half-limit inactive flip.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 6.85M
The days review - Still not many flips, but a great day in terms of profit both total and per flip average. Not sure what is going on with Santa Hats, but I'm not complaining

Re: Gummy's Merchanting Diary
- September 16th - September 22nd:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1B
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.04B
Weekly summary - Another short week of merchanting. It has been difficult lately to get higher wealth items to come in, some of which either failed to sell or sold for a loss instantly which is unfortunate. I also lost a few few million on a test margin that had cropped up and I took a stab at, but it could have gone either way so I did not mind taking the risk. I will see if I can do better for you guys next week.
Date: September 16, 2013, 2013
1 - Ahrim's Book of Magic - 1,200,000gp - 4.41%
After getting burned on two straight high wealth items I decided I would go for some lower, more general items for the time being and one item that has brought me nice profits with a good percentage in the past was Ahrim's Book of Magic. Limit of 5 and a self-check item (no friend chat price checks this item to my knowledge), you can find some very large margins leading to multiple millions in profit for the flip. These are generally inactive (1-2 hours), but have proven themselves to be easy money most every time.- Spoiler:
2 - Zamorakian Spear - 900,000gp - 2.67%
A common flip by many merchants, I had not flipped this item in a good while and since I was revisiting the lower items I went ahead and gave this a price check to find the common ~100,00gp margin and rolled with it. Decent-speed flip, completed in about 50 minutes time alongside five other items filling my GE slots. A medium wealth item that can provide decent profits most every time.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.1M
The days review - Had a late start to merchanting on this day having been called into work for a number of hours. After a short shift tomorrow, I should be able to get through a decent number of flips for this diary hopefully including some of the higher-wealth flips I've become used to doing (especially now that I have surpassed the 1B mark).
Date: September 17, 2013
1 - Green Dragonhide - 708,252gp - 3.36%
Something that I do not flip often enough is bulk items, a common one for med-high wealth being dragonhides and leathers. After testing a few, I came upon these which produced an 80gp margin, not bad for green dragonhide. At times a limit of these can produce up to a few million in profit. This is an inactive item with green being one of the more quick flips for hides and leathers.- Spoiler:
2 - Dragon Hatchet - 1,170,000gp - 3.43%
A common flip of merchants, the Dragon Hatchet has the potential to produce some very nice profits as you can see here. This flip lasted quite a bit longer than usual, but the end result speaks for itself. A high level tool that will always be in demand, this item has a limit of 10 and, at absolute worst, can still make a nice bit of side profits.- Spoiler:
3 - Dragon Pickaxe - 3,510,000gp - 2.72%
I check this item occasionally (usually whenever I check in on the Dragon Hatchet) and this price check produced an amazing margin for this item and I'm happy to see that it went the distance rather than being under/overcut or receiving a faulty price check from the start. This flip lasted for around seven hours so quite a bit of time, but great profit with a good percentage and next to no work necessary to make it happen.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 5.39M
The days review - A pretty small merchanting day. General flip for dragon leather, one of the better flips for Dragon Hatchet, and an amazing margin caught on the Dragon Pickaxes. This is not something normal, but it is one reason to keep tabs on this item as this can happen from time to time.
Date: September 18, 2013
1 - Ahrim's Book of Magic - 1,200,000gp - 4.58%
I seem to have kept my consistency with this item. I decided to put a small bit of my cash into flipping this item again after the majority of my cash was placed into a singularity offer, the rest being spread out across three items. Unfortunately, this was the only offer to fill, but I am pleased with the return on this flip once again. Limit of 5/4, these can make for some nice inactive flips.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.2M
The days review - Between a lack of time throughout the day and nothing wanting to come through (was mainly trying to push out some high wealth stuff on the day), I only managed to fully complete one flip though it's not a bad flip by any means. Tomorrow will continue to try and add on to this diary; still chasing some good margins on a number of items.
Date: September 19, 2013
1 - Drygore Rapier - 1,000,000gp - 1.34%
I have been in the price checking friend chat '90weaps pc' for about a week now trying to get a hold on the Seismic Singularity. Upon logging in this morning it had risen even further which made me forget about my pursuit and put my money into a number of other offers for the time being. A recent request had provided the drygore line and so I placed an offer for each of them (both mainhand and offhand versions). I shot for a 1M profit (the general margin a number of people will tell you to look for in these and the flip completed within about thirty minutes.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1M
The days review - An abnormally busy day for me, I was only able to produce one flip today though it was not a bad flip so I do not mind much. As always, I will be looking to try and push my cash stack once again tomorrow as well as more flips in general.
Date: September 20, 2013
1 - Infinity Robes Set - 1,953,000gp - 7.44%
The first thing to notice here is that a full limit did not come through. I had this offer in last night through until the morning with those two having bought last night before I went to sleep. I figured with such a large margin that the price was shifting one way or another, but that I would profit either way if sets were to come in. Unfortunately the price was going up and went beyond my purchase price after those two sales. Considered a bad flip for myself and possibly a failed flip by others, I did still profit even after the initial price checking loss so it's not all bad.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.95M
The days review - Another abnormally busy day for me where I was only able to produce one flip though again it was not a bad flip so I do not mind much. As always, I will be looking to try and push my cash stack once again tomorrow as well as more flips in general.
Date: September 22, 2013
1 - Seismic Singularity - 2,000,000gp - .23%
My first attempt at flipping these was met with misfortune as my offer did not fill during the night and they ended up jumping 50M by the next day. My second attempt came with an instant 6M loss followed yesterday by an overnight 5M loss which leads us to now. After all of this, I was just looking to net a profit and so I watched the fc '90weaps pc' until it had hit it's recent low and and started to rise again. I finally caught up with it at 881 and went for a small, but worthwhile profit of 2M. Horrific percentage I am aware, but a much needed victory over the item which will hopefully lead to better attempts in the coming weeks.- Spoiler:
- September 23rd - September 29th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.04B
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.5B
Weekly summary - If you were to look at the numbers above you would feel that I excelled highly at merchanting this week, but to be honest most of my money came from means other than merchanting. Adding up all of the daily profits from below I profited around 30M this week from idle merchanting on the side while going about my job and SM duties so not too bad really. With this I may look to take a jump into flipping partyhats in the coming week so that will be a new and fun experience for me.
Date: September 23, 2013, 2013
1 - Off-hand Ascension Crossbow - 4,000,000gp - .84%
I had been following this item for a few days to observe the price trends and tendencies and once it dipped below the low I set my offer and waited. After about an hour they both had come through and I placed them in for a bit below the general high overnight. I woke up to find that one had sold (the 4M profit), but the price had gone down yet again and so I made the decision to try and break even on the second by selling it at what I paid and it did. I planned it perfectly and effectively, just was unlucky in that only one of the two sold before the price went back down.- Spoiler:
2 - Ascension Crossbow - 4,000,000gp - .84%
this would be the exact same story as above. Ascension crossbows tend to stay together in price so I placed an offer for the limit of 2 in for the same price as the off-hands and they also came through within about an hour. Again I left these in overnight for a cut below the recent high and woke up to find only one had sold (the 4M profit) while the price had dropped so I sold it back for what I paid to break even on it and walked away with another 4M in my pocket.- Spoiler:
3 - Ragefire Boots - 875,000gp - 2.16%
I have noticed a couple of people pulling in decent profits from this item over the past few days so I checked in to see what I could find and was met with a 175,000gp margin. I trimmed that 25,000gp on each side (buy/sell) and ended up running overnight. I woke up at midnight and logged in to find the offer had filled so placed them in to sell and headed back to sleep. Woke up this morning to a completed offer. Not as well as other's profits, but I'll take it.- Spoiler:
4 - Dragon Pickaxe - 2,700,000gp - 1.93%
An item that I had profited well on a week or two ago and had mentioned to others who followed suit, I decided to pop in and see how they were doing today. I came upon a near 400,000gp margin and shot for 300,000gp profit per pickaxe and it completed successfully within a few hours. These, as you can see from this example, can produce some very nice profits within a short period of time. An item to keep on a personal list for consistent price checks.- Spoiler:
5 - Seismic Singularity - 2,000,000gp - .23%
Another 2,000,000gp profit flip of the singularity is low in percentage, but enough to satisfy me. These are currently beginning to fall it seems and so I didn't want to hold onto it for too long. I had non-instant bought the singularity and in my experience when that happens on a falling item my high price is no longer relevant and I end up losing money. In this case the price was teetering around my buy and sell price and so after an hour or so the flip had completed. It used to be much easier to get a much larger margin on items such as the singularity, but it has become more difficult on both fronts so I will accept a flip such as this as being successful.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 13.575M
The days review - A great day for merchanting. The Ascension bows would have been much better, but after selling one overnight for the 4M profit the price tanked and I sold the second of each back for what I paid. All the same a nice addition to my flip collection and my money pouch. The Ragefires were an overnight from the night before, the Dragon Pickaxe was an item that I had been meaning to check, but kept forgetting about, and the Singularity was just another attempt to gain a profit on the item that has lost me so much.
Date: September 25, 2013
1 - Saradomin Godsword - 2,630,000gp - 1.19%
A high wealth flip that I check pretty often, it has been above GE mid for quite some time and so I have been awaiting the crash and I think I have found it. Upon conducting a price check I came upon a 1M+ margin, with that setting my offer. Unfortunately after leaving it for a good lot of hours only six had come through and wanting to go to bed, I decided to put those in to sell. Only one was sold by morning so I shaved my profits a bit and they instant sold a bit over the price I dropped to. Decent percentage and a good profit nonetheless.- Spoiler:
2 - Seismic Singularity - 2,000,000gp - .23
Another singularity, another 2M profit. The cool thing about this flip though was the total buy/sell time was about one minute. I was aware that the item had been crashing and the latest forum pc was old, but was down quite a bit from yesterday so I placed an offer a bit below that in case it had fallen further since the last pc and it bought within about 10 seconds. Wanting to be safe based on how quickly it had come through, I lowered the profit margin between the price I paid and the price last pc'ed on the rsof thread in hopes to make a profit at all. After about 50 seconds the item had sold.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 4.63M
The days review - I have been looking to use up more of my available wealth in a good bit of my flips so today was a strong day for for that. I had been watching the godswords so when I bought one for around mid and sold for a good 1.17M less I knew that I had waited long enough and made my move. As can be seen from the image and information above it went very well. The Singularity as I mentioned in the description for the item was bought and sold in a collective ~1 minute. Not entirely sure why though it may have been related to a general panic as a number of other items dropped a good bit as well, though these bounced back to ~875 later in the day.
Date: September 26, 2013
1 - Dragon Pickaxe - 1,800,000gp - 1.38%
So upon price checking this item yet again I came into a margin just shy of 300,000gp so that wasn't something I could pass up. What was unfortunate was that the flip lasted much much longer than usual - few hours to buy, overnight to sell. All the same it is a profit with a good percentage and clearly an item that should be followed closely.- Spoiler:
2 - Zamorakian Spear - 630,000gp - 1.84%
Another common check for many merchants, this actually had a smaller margin than usual (common to find a 100,000gp margin on these), but still well enough for a relatively quick flip for some lower side profits. I have a good bit of my wealth in a couple other offers so it's always well to have some smaller merches going on the side to keep the flip count high and the profits up.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.43M
The days review - Bit busier yesterday so only managed another two flips. The Dragon Pickaxes have been doing magnificently in recent weeks; the Zamorakian Spear under-performing it's usual margins but still a decent flip.
Date: September 27, 2013
1 - Seismic Singularity - 4,000,000gp - .45%
Getting a bit better at these having now doubled the latest singularity flip's profits with this flip. There wasn't an active pcer in the '90weaps pc' fc so I took a peek at the last couple pages of the RSOF thread to find a general pattern of pricing and placed a general low-ball bid around the recent low. After an hour or so it had come through and so I placed it intentionally at 889 in hopes to pick up a decent profit and it had sold a bit quicker than it had purchased. The best piece of advice with this item is to keep up to date on the current Vorago cycle, else you may end up buying into a singularity that will ultimately crash on you quite a bit over a short period of time.- Spoiler:
2 - Barrows - Guthan's Set - 1,035,000gp - 3.75%
Last week I lost quite a bit on these sets as they were acting very oddly and I took a huge risk that ultimately cost me a good 7M. I have also been focusing on higher wealth items and so I took a step back to flip some general items. I selected this set of all the barrows sets simply for the reason aforemention - that it had cost me 7M and I wanted to make a bit of that back. The offer completed within about two hours time.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 5.035M
The days review - Another busy day, but was able to produce my best Singularity flip so that's the highlight on the day. Not really much else to discuss. I will see what further flips I can produce for this week's diary over the next two days.
Date: September 28, 2013
1 - Ahrim's Book of Magic - 1,200,000gp - 4.24%
An item that has become a common flip in my diary, I decided to check in on this after noticing that Virtus Books were on the higher side of their current margins and yet again this item has proven itself with a nice profit and good percentage to go with it. This item has a limit of four, is not price checked by any friend chat, and is an inactive item generally speaking.- Spoiler:
2 - Super Restore (4) - 299,700gp - 16.85%
I haven't flipped potions in a while. To be honest I pretty much forget about them when it comes to merchanting, but every so often I will work one in. I selected Super Restores due to the common need for this item in comparison to an old favorite of Saradomin Brews which is now replaced by many with Rocktail/Rocktail Soup for example and selected (4) instead of (3) as I have found these to have better margins. After buying three the buy offer stalled for a pretty long while before the rest came in all in one go. The sale offer went through fairly quick (within about ten minutes of putting them in to sell).- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.5M
The days review - Yet another busy day between parades and events, housework and helping my brother a bit with his homework. I suppose what I did manage today was to get away from the high wealth flips and throw in some low-med wealth flips to mix it up. I may be able to add a partyhat flip tomorrow, but we'll have to wait and see, otherwise I may get into those for this next week's diary.
Date: September 29, 2013
1 - Santa Hat - 2,800,000gp - 1.62%
To be honest with you, this was not meant to be a flip by any means. I purchased this simply for a clan event that we held last night. I figured I may make or lose a bit or perhaps break even, but this profit was not expected by any means. When I logged in this morning for a quick check before heading off for a bit the reported price was 174 and I had planned to sell it then, but was in a hurry and just left it be. A few minutes ago I checked into R Quark again for the latest report which was 176b and I called it a flip. Have to love when things just work without even trying.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.8M
The days review - Very busy day today between my SM duties, a couple of household duties plus my internet starting my day off on a bad foot led to having only one flip. One unintentional, but very nice flip. Not much else to say on the matter.
- September 30th - October 6th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.5B
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.47B
Weekly summary - The week started off alright, but I soon noticed that the economy had gone to all hell with Singularities jumping 200M, Seismic wand above max cash, Virtus wand +20M, Ascension bows +20M after already being up 15-20, and then on the final day (Sunday) yellow partyhat tanked for a 45M loss within a matter of literal seconds.
Date: October 1, 2013
1 - Purple Partyhat - 7,000,000gp - .51%
Having the money to get myself into partyhats I took a peek into the 'Rares' section of merchz, specifically the purple and yellow partyhats as these are the two I could afford. I selected the purple primarily in that it would leave a bit over 100M on the side for other merchanting offers whereas the yellow would leave less than half of that, but also the merchz graph for the purple showed random spikes up to around 1.463b when the general price at the time was about 80M south of that. Figured it was sitting rather low anyway so I could buy in and try to catch one of those spikes, otherwise just profit regularly from it in a day or two. As you can see I did not catch a spike and instead found myself 7M richer. The best part is that after reporting my sale to R Quark fc, not a minute later someone else from SM reported their own purple sale 7M lower than what I had just sold mine for. Talk about good timing.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 7M
The days review - My first partyhat flip ever so a profit to me is successful and 7M does not seem to be too bad anyway. What I like about flipping partyhats now is that if it goes down a bit or stays at the low I bought it for, I can then wear it for a while which I find cool since I'm just now getting into partyhats.
Date: October 3, 2013
1 - Yellow Partyhat - 5,000,000gp - .34%
I had tried a Yellow Partyhat two days ago soon after the purple, but it ended up remaining around the price I purchased it for for a good while so I ended up selling it yesterday. Today I noticed the prices had gone up so I put a lowball offer in to match the recent lows while I did some stuff around the house and came back to find that it had purchased. I knew I would be going out for a bit tonight for a friend's birthday and so I put it back in at the recent high. Came home to it having sold so that wasn't bad for a few hour flip. Not the best percentage, but partyhats are somewhat stable, at least for the past few days anyway so I won't complain.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 5M
The days review - My second flip of the week and my second partyhat flip of the week in the second unique color of the week on the second day of merchanting for the week. Oh wait, no trending ;)a smaller profit with a smaller percentage on a higher wealth flip, but a much quicker flip for a very nice profit nonetheless. Lately partyhats have decided to become more stable than usual so these smaller flips are about as good as they get for the time being from what I have seen.
Date: October 4, 2013
1 - Purple Partyhat - 4,000,000gp - .29%
Another short partyhat flip with another small percentage. This week I haven't had a lot of time to flip and the great thing about partyhats is that if the price is low for whatever reason you have the option to sport the hat for a bit until the price goes up to where you would like to sell it. The purple has been fluctuating often recently between 1375-1380 so these are really about as well profits as possible to receive lately and this flip took about a couple hours to complete so not bad at all.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 4M
The days review - Not another quick flip, but another flip nonetheless. Partyhats seem to be sitting very stable at the moment so this is really about as good as it is possible to get at this time. I would have had a 20M+ Singularity flip to add to this day, but an unfortunate ranked pc'er incident caused a price drop leading to my selling for what I paid so at least I came out without a loss, but I wasn't pleased to say the least.
Date: October 6, 2013
1 - Dragon Hatchet - 1,050,000gp - 2.8%
I needed a fourth flip in order for this horrendous merchanting week to be counted for rating and so I threw this item in as I was heading off to a Castle Wars event. This item, along with the Dragon Pickaxe, rose with the update of the new Dwarf quest and usually when one rises, the other does as well. Not sure why, but that is generally how it works and something to keep in mind. Not a bad profit as you can see and the flip completed within about an hour or so.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.05M
The days review - Another day, another single flip. Nice profit with a good percentage and completed while I was attending an event.
- October 14th - October 20th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.5B
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.56B
Weekly summary - Still not a great week with merchanting. Between offers not completing, buy offers completing but not selling, items dropping and so forth, it's just been a terrible month for merchanting to be honest. I have also been online quite a bit less than usual.
Date: October 14, 2013
1 - Purple Partyhat - 5,000,000gp - .37%
I have had a ton of misfortune with items lately (as the ascension crossbows in the image are a testament to), but I had noticed the price of partyhats going back up and pretty rapidly so I picked one up simply to try and ride the wave. The bad part is that when I had caught it it had already risen multiple tens of millions so there wasn't a whole lot of hope to be had. It rose to a maximum of 1355 before beginning to fall again and so I sold it for the 5,000,000gp profit that you see.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 5M
The days review - Only able to produce one flip on the day, but I was unable to come online until late tonight so one flip should be understandable. Not the best percentage, but again the flip was a partyhat so should be easily understandable. Vacation begins tomorrow and lasts a week though so we will see how that affects the diary entries.
Date: October 15, 2013
1 - Saradomin Godsword - 2,250,000gp - .65%
A high wealth item that I have not so much as price checked in a fair bit, I decided to do just that which returned an average sort of profit for this item, perhaps a bit high. These swords specifically can come with up to a few million in profits per sword if you inactive/short-term invest on a swing. I bought the lot before I went to sleep and left them in to sell overnight.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.25M
The days review - Another day with another one flip. I have an idea of a way for me to produce further flips so I will look into putting that plan to action in the next day or so.
Date: October 17, 2013
1 - Off-hand Drygore Longsword - 960,850gp - 1.6%
I have not flipped drygores in quite some time and could really use some fillers to bulk up my diary considering the last diary I submitted consisted of a depressing four. I of course used the '90weaps pc' fc for latest reports and set my offers below the report. A common profit on any drygore is around the one million mark, but sometimes you have to go for less, sometimes you catch a break and snipe a cs, or perhaps you plan and inactive/short-term invest for multiple millions of profit per item.- Spoiler:
2 - Drygore Longsword - 1,000,000gp - 1.1%
I also had this offer in (to be specific I placed buy offers in for all six drygore weapons simultaneously and this was the second to complete) which produced as directed the one million gp profit. Not sure why, but usually I go with x.1, but this time for some reason I went with x.25 which could easily have removed 150K profit from this flip. I highly recommend drygores however as they tend to be rather short flips and make for some nice profits as you can see.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.96M
The days review - Two flips today though I had more offers that bought, but waiting to sell. Hopefully those will have sold by tomorrow.
Date: October 18, 2013
1 - Off-hand Drygore Mace - 1,000,000gp - 2.5%
The third drygore item to complete of the haul yesterday. A general drygore profit with a good percentage though this one did take quite a while longer than usual. Sometimes you can buy and sell within about 25 minutes, other times it takes quite a few hours to fully complete.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1M
The days review - Another day with another one flip. Not a whole lot to say really. Between available online time, flip duration, failed purchase times, etc it can be difficult at times to produce flips.
Date: October 19, 2013
1 - Ahrim's Wand - 1,150,000gp - 2.28%
I had recently attempted to flip Ahrim's Book of Magic, but unfortunately it failed. I had not given the wand more than one opportunity in the past so I decided to do just that. A price check revealed a margin just shy of 200,000gp and I reduced that down to 150,000gp. The offer was in for at least the good part of a day before completing in full.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.15M
The days review - Another day with another one flip. I have had a lot on my mind, some very tough decisions are ahead of me.
- October 21st - October 27th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.53B (sold 1B to WagerHost, bought full torva + dual drygores, and exchanged 500M EoC for a good bit of 07 gold. With this, I now have about 150M-200M available wealth).
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 160M
Weekly summary - Another bad week of merchanting in terms of number of flips produced. Not the best quality or type of flips either I might add. My cash pile crashed into near nothingness later in the week so that should be an interesting change I suppose.
Date: October 24, 2013
1 - Zamorakian Spear - 900,000gp - 2.38%
I hadn't attempted this item in a little while, I needed to ensure I had at least one flip completed today for my diary to count for the week, and I knew this item was likely to produce this exact profit leading to a good percentage. This item is a self-check (ten limit) with a general production of 50,000gp-150,000gp margins.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 900K
The days review - Only one flip and really only because I needed one in order to make sure that my diary will count for the week. Not a good reason or really educationally benefiting, but the honesty is nice.
Date: October 25, 2013
1 - Saradomin Godsword - 2,800,000gp - 1.83%
I was thinking through my items that can produce good margins that also take up a good bit of bank and the SGS came to mind. With a price check I had found a large margin and naturally took to it. Unfortunately only four had bought overnight, but selling those for a good profit and alright percentage is still well. I highly recommend this item if your cash pile allows.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.8M
The days review - Clearly I am going for the record for most consecutive days with one flip completed. Not much else to say other than I was busy and the flip made the one flip day content.
Date: October 26, 2013
1 - Ragefire Boots - 702,000gp - 1.17%
With my cash pile lower than it has been in quite some time I was looking for items that I had not paid attention to in quite some time. I went through each Glacor boot until I came to the Ragefires which, of the three, produced the best profit margin and so I set my offer and waited for completion. A number of hours went by, but they eventually came in and sold off much quicker than they had purchased for. Limit of 10, self-check. I believe these are best for inactive/overnight/short-term investment flipping.- Spoiler:
2 - Dragon Hatchet - 560,000gp - 1.7%
A common flip among many, the Dragon Hatchet has the ability to produce multiple millions in profit. Even at low points it can provide a good bit of side profits as you can see here. Limit of 10, self-check. These are good for inactive flipping. One thing to look out for for great profits is an update that would cause the Dragon Hatchet or Pickaxe to rise as when one does, usually the other follows. Not sure why, but I have witnessed it many a time.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 1.26M
The days review - There goes that record. I threw both of the offers in at basically the same time and both completed basically at the same time so that was good to see. Final day tomorrow and still needing one day for the diary to go through so hopefully I can get something in.
Date: October 27, 2013
1 - Blue Dragonhide - 587,800gp - 1.75%
As you can see from the image, I had a hard time selling this off. Between stalling and my lack of time to complete the offer for it to count on the day, I had to lower my final offer down to the price I had paid for the dragonhides in the first place. Not the best of flips by any means, but it is well based on its purpose of allowing my diary entry for this week. These can produce up to multiple millions of profits through a general margin would be 500,000-1,250,000 I would say. Limit of 10,000, inactive item by nature. These are a good item for overnighting.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 588K
The days review - Another short, hopeless day really. I have been so busy lately it's a wonder how I was able to manage the flips that I did let alone anything further.
- October 28th - November 3rd:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 350M
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.1B
Weekly summary - Something.
Date: October 28, 2013
1 - Drygore Mace - 2,602,086gp - 3.32%
I purchased this item along with a number of others for no reason other than just to do so. I had thought about bossing a bit with any free time that I had, but the last couple of days have been nothing but work overload. To my amazement when selling everything back, I profited quite nicely on this item alone; the rest I sold for what I had paid. Drygore items are an easy item to pull one million profit from, but have the ability to produce multiple millions of profit, even if accidently. These are price checked by the fc '90weaps pc' and have a limit of 1.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2.6M
The days review - Only one flip on the day, but it was a beauty and I am content with that. Been very, very busy lately (even more than usual) so this could be an interesting time..
Date: November 1, 2013
1 - Soul Runes - 449,462gp - 46.58%
I had very little cash to use for merchanting (around 6M) so I chose Soul Runes at random from the low wealth category. The price check led to a 119 high, 10 low so I placed an offer at 50 which went nowhere. I upped it to 85 and instant bought 500 and slowly increased to the 11,499 total - it stalled for over an hour as well as I had a need to complete one flip today so I removed the offer and they instant sold well above my sell price. I was looking for a 30gp margin, but ended up receiving a 38gp margin. Not bad at all for runes.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 450K
The days review - This seems to be the story of my life at the moment. One flip per day at best though lately is has been either great profit or great percentage.
Date: November 2, 2013
1 - Steadfast Boots - 800,000gp - 1.24%
Another quick flip that I posted just to try and get something in. I had the offer in for the full nine (-1 of limit from price checking), but it stalled for a bit of time. Unfortunately I was running out of time in the day and decided to sell what I had which sold rather quickly. Good profit for flipping not even half of the limit available to me.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 800K
The days review - The story continues. I had three flips in really just scrambling to get any one flip to complete in time (before the clock struck midnight) and this was the best that I could get to go in the time that I had to work with. Not the worst, but obviously not all that well either.
Date: November 3, 2013
1 - Astral Runes - 374,985gp - 7.1%
One of the other flips that I had in with the steadfast boots, these completed relatively quick though not quick enough. All the same this was a good flip with a great profit for runes and a good percentage to go with it. I selected a rune because a low wealth, high limit item could only help my diary. Just goes to show that low wealth items can still bring in a good bit of profit.- Spoiler:
- November 11th - November 17th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.11B
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.11B
Weekly summary - Not the best of weeks and had a couple losses that weren't pretty, but I've lost worse I suppose. Merchantable bank didn't really move in the end either which is unfortunate.
Date: November 12, 2013
1 - Santa Hat - 3,500,000gp - 2.06%
I have had very little time to be on Runescape as of late, less than I already had been, and so I decided to put my wealth into an item (Flipping 101 - do not put all of your wealth into one item). I noticed that the santa hat was at its rough recent low so I put an offer in for as many as I could afford and let it sit for a couple days. Only one came though which happened within hours of placing the offer which means I caught it right at the start of the rise unfortunately. Not the best way to utilize one's gp, but I am happy with the outcome given the circumstances.- Spoiler:
2 - Barrows - Karil's Set - 900,000gp - 4.02%
I decided to run through the barrow's sets which kept returning 50,000gp margins until I came upon this set which was 120,000gp margin. Set the offer 10,000gp above and waited for about an hour until they bought. Put them in 10,000gp below the high and they sold within thirty minutes. Not a bad profit, but some sets (Karil's included) have the ability to produce over a million or two in profits.- Spoiler:
3 - Saradomin Godsword - 1,800,000gp - .55%
A common high wealth flip when I have time aside for working on my diary, this item as is shown above can provide a good bit of profit in just a few hours. The profit can be anywhere from a general 100K minimum per sword up to 1m+ per sword and at times can make for amazing investment opportunities.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 6.2M
The days review - A great start to the diary this week between posting multiple flips that almost amount to the full week of flips I have been posting in recent diaries and 6.2M in a day over three items isn't bad at all. Will look to continue this tomorrow.
Date: November 13, 2013
1 - Dragon Limbs - 3,500,000gp - 4.27%
I picked up the idea for flipping this item from the diary of lil_me. When I price checked the item it returned over a 1M margin and I couldn't pass that up, right? Only four came through after about a day and a half so I put those four in to sell and had to lower my offer for the final one to sell off.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 3.5M
The days review - A great start to the diary this week between posting multiple flips that almost amount to the full week of flips I have been posting in recent diaries and 6.2M in a day over three items isn't bad at all. Will look to continue this tomorrow.
Date: November 15, 2013
1 - Dragon Bones - 549,945gp - 1.18%
I was running through a few of the more common daily flips of active merchants and came to bones. Frost dragon bones had a horrid margin, but the regular dragon bones were well enough to give a go. Following a price check I added 4-5 gp to my buy price (the buy lasted for an hour, give or take twenty minutes). I also left off a few gp from the sale (sale lasted maybe 25 minutes, give or take ten). Dragon bones can give nice margins and, at times, have been known to produce 1M profits for a limit.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 549,945gp
The days review - Not the best of days, but I was unavailable throughout the majority of the day. Good part is that I did at least this otherwise my diary would not have counted for the week.
Date: November 17, 2013
1 - Dragon Hatchet - 495,000gp - 1.47%
A common flip of many merchants and one that I check every couple of days when I have the time, this is a good example of a general flip for this item though if caught at a good time it can produce closer to, if not over, 1M in profits for one limit.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 495,000gp
The days review - Another classic day with only one flip to post, but at least it is enough for my diary to count I suppose. I tried my hand at a singularity, but it's so hard [for me] to lowball those as instead it drops to and quickly below my buy price.

Re: Gummy's Merchanting Diary
- November 18th - November 24th:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.73B
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.85B-1.9B
Weekly summary - The week ends with sixteen completed flips (better than I have been able to do for the last couple months unfortunately) and a net profit of 132,457,447gp. I did very well with partyhat flipping which some people find difficult to do, I avenged my earlier failures at the hands of the singularity with back to back flips that amazed myself as I was completing them, and with this profit for the week I am not too far away from that sought-after 1B profit "Pro Merchant" status and an investment or two may take care of that for me in the coming weeks.
Date: November 19, 2013
1 - Santa Hat - 2,550,000gp - .51%
Though it came with a low percentage, the profit per hat is actually quite well and higher than a general margin for Santa hats so the percentage should be understandable. After joining R Quark and hearing the latest Santa report I noticed that it was a bit lower than recent reports and I placed an offer for a couple of limits. After a bit of stalling I decided to sell the three that I had and as expected the price rose back a bit. I may have been able to make a bit more on this had I waited, but I was going for more of a quick flip than an all-day or even overnight flip.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 2,550,000gp
The days review - Only one flip yet again, but it was a good one. Higher wealth, beyond one limit, and a nice profit. I have something in place for tomorrow that I hope will work out nicely.
Date: November 20, 2013
1 - Purple Partyhat - 22,000,000 - 1.75%
My best partyhat flip to date! I overnighted a few hundred thousand gp above the GE mid price which is quite a few million above the recent lows in the past few days but I wasn't expecting it to drop quite that much again, especially considering my offer was already a good 20M below the latest reported fc price. When I awoke I logged in to find that not only had it purchased for my price, but it had also risen nearly 40M according to the latest report of the time. By this point unfortunately, the prices had already started to drop down again and I ended up non-instant selling for 1280M. An amazing profit for a purple partyhat.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 22,000,000gp
The days review - Another one flip day, but wow was it great. My best partyhat flip to date and not bad money for a full day. More days similar to this (profit wise anyway) would be fantastic.
Date: November 21, 2013
1 - Red Partyhat - 11,000,000gp - .66%
I noticed that this had tanked quite a bit and was within about 20M of the recent low so I waited for it to drop a bit closer before making a purchase. Unfortunately after doing so it fell another 5M-7M before returning to my buy price and basically stalling in between the two (I bought the hat last night, the 20th). After returning home tonight I entered R Quark where I received a 1683s report. I put the hat in for 1682 in case it had dropped just a bit in the hopes that it would still sell off - instant sold for 1686. When it comes to partyhats, it is all about waiting. Sometimes it will hurt you big time, other times it will help you greatly.- Spoiler:
2 - Dragon Hatchet - 1,260,000 - 3.88%
As I mentioned previously, this is a common item that I checked probably every other day as it can provide decent profits and doesn't take up too much of my wealth making it a good flip to go for when I have something larger going at the same time (a partyhat for example). In this instance the flip finished quickly, completing in around forty minutes time.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 12,260,000gp
The days review - Two flips on the day, another good partyhat flip and a high-end profit on the hatchets. I do have another offer in tonight which will hopefully come through and rise back tomorrow throughout the day for a nice profit once more.
Date: November 22, 2013
1 - Yellow Partyhat - 14,000,000gp - 1.07%
Figured that I can afford four of the six partyhats and as I had already flipped both purple and red this week I would try to complete the four-part set. I purchased yellow overnight for a bit above its recent low and waited for the price to bounce. It took a bit longer than expected, but after about twelve hours the hat managed to climb to my lowered sale price for a 14M profit and a 1% percentage. I have been using the R Quark friend chat as well as the R Quark RSOF thread (Discontinued Item Status V14) for these flips. Another tool that I could use if wished would be merchz.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 14,000,000gp
The days review - Another brilliant flip for another one flip day. Partyhats have been pretty predictable over the past few days; glad to have joined in on them at the right time though it seems I may not be able to complete the set of four that I can afford as green has risen without really falling back thus far.
Date: November 23, 2013
1 - Ahrim's Book of Magic - 1,360,000gp - 4.52%
A medium wealth flip that I figured I could use to spread out my wealth a bit and try to bulk up my diary. These can provide anywhere from 100,000gp margins to about 1M margins; a very nice item for inactive flipping with a medium cash pile. They purchased before I headed off for the night (about 45 minutes) and sold overnight.- Spoiler:
2 - Armadyl Godsword - 1,530,000gp - 3.04%
A high wealth item though lower in comparison to my cash stack and the rares that I have been flipping, a good friend of mine here had recently flipped this for close to the same profits meanwhile I have been focusing on other items leaving this one behind for over a month at least. This goes to show that lower wealth items can still produce good profits for the money invested into them, very similar to the Dragon Hatchet flip from a few days ago.- Spoiler:
3 - Seismic Singularity - 35,000,000gp - 5%
I have never had much success with singularities, but I knew that the recent cycle for Vorago was the easy cycle leading to a crash in price for the seismic items. Initially I was planning on purchasing another one for around the same price and investing in them for much larger profits over the weeks, but about an hour or maybe an hour and a half after the initial purchase I logged in to a report of 738b and could not pass up the opportunity for that profit this week so I placed my offer a few million below expecting an instant sale. While that did not happen, it did sell about one minute later for the profit that you see. My hope now is that it will lower once more and I can either repeat this flip or go through with my investment plans.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 37,890,000gp
The days review - Best merchanting day so far thanks to finally getting over the singularity hump I have been stuck behind. Rares and 90weaps items have been great for merchanting the last week at least so try and jump in if possible.
Date: November 24, 2013
1 - Ragefire Boots - 900,000gp - 1.43%
Just a small side flip to sort of bulk up my diary while I had the singularity going. I usually check steadfasts before ragefires as they seem the most common and have done well in the past, but ragefires came to mind first and I can never get a limit of glaivens for the life of me. This is a pretty common sight among many items; 100K profit per item for a 900K ending profit so at least I managed that.- Spoiler:
2 - Seismic Singularity - 40,000,000gp - 6.06%
The sale of 700M goes with the buy of 660M for both the viewer's sake and for records-sake. After setting a new high yesterday for singularity I have pushed it a bit further along with this flip today. I was a bit scared as after buying the 705M singularity it crashed below 700M hence the purchase of a second singularity at 660M. Unfortunately it continued to crash all the way down to 611M before now shooting back up to 700M and counting. These two flips and this week in general have inspired my belief in singularity and partyhat flipping.- Spoiler:
3 - Chinchompa - 399,984gp - 9.36%
Nothing more than a small side item. I was looking into the portents that can be made through Divination and came to the Hunter sets (I hate training Hunter) and highly considered stocking up on stuff to make these each day for experience training, but once I calculated the experience per day among other things I just decided to flip them for a profit. I pc'ed both and selected this chinchompa due to the larger profit margin. It took one full day to complete.- Spoiler:
4 - Zamorak Godsword - 540,000gp - 2.28%
I usually stick to Saradomin Godsword and even then I don't go for that all that often, but I decided to mix it up and give a nod to another member of the godsword family - perhaps the most neglected godsword at that. Clearly not the best of profit margins in this instance, godswords can make up to a few hundred thousand per sword inactively or more through overnighting/short-term investing, perhaps even swing trading. Godswords are an inactive flip by nature and can produce decent profits for those with low-to-med cash pile available.- Spoiler:
5 - Dragon 2h Sword - 360,000gp - 3.45%
A flip completed alongside the Zamorak Godsword, Dragon 2h Swords are widely used by med level players and also are used quite often in drop parties creating a fairly consistent demand for the item. When I have played around with this item the margin found here tends to be a common theme, though I am sure if caught at the right times it could produce further profits. An inactive flip by nature, this example took around one hour and forty-five minutes to complete.- Spoiler:
6 - Offhand Drygore Rapier - 800,000gp - 1.67%
Been away from Drygores for quite some time even though I have been in the chat for the past few days monitoring the movement of the singularity so I figured now would be as good a time as any to jump back into these and nothing has changed in regards to flipping these. Easy to produce 800K-1M margins though at times you can push that for up to a few million in profits. It is always best to lowball the latest report (up to 1M below) and gradually increase the price every 10-20 minutes if necessary. This flip completed within about fifteen minutes.- Spoiler:
7 - Unfinished Broad Bolts - 21,820gp - 31.25%
I remember completing a flip for this item way back I believe in my early days of merchanting a little over a year ago and remembered that it came with a high percentage and wanted to see if I could repeat the outcome once more. Unfortunately the buy stalled and I was not able to purchase the limit, but I collected a good bit of it and the nice percentage came through for me yet again. An item I would recommend for anyone going for low wealth flipping or looking for high percentage flips.- Spoiler:
8 - Drygore Longsword - 735,643gp - .89%
Took around 40 minutes to buy and no time at all to sell (sold instantly for mid price). I have been in '90weaps pc' fc for the past few days for singularities and decided to throw in some drygore offers. Interestingly three of them bought at the same time; now just waiting on the other two to sell hopefully before midnight so they can be added to this diary set. I started with a buy offer in 1M below the latest report, but after about 30 minutes I decided to up it a bit along with the others and they all came through shortly thereafter.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 43,757,447gp
The days review - Best day of the week in terms of both flip count and profit made for the day. Too bad this isn't a consistent production.
- November 25th - December 1st:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.85B-1.9B (only 480M from Tuesday-midday Friday; tied up with two crashed singularities).
Ending Total Merchantable Bank: 1.9B
Weekly summary - A short week, but not a bad week in terms of profit (total: 95,351,495gp) and now just 60M from the 1B profit 'Pro Merchant' status.
Date: November 25, 2013
1 - Drygore Mace - 700,000gp - .91%
I had this in last night with the others, but it had not filled by midnight so I went ahead and left it in to sell overnight. I could have then stretched the margin for a larger profit considering it became an overnight, but I was exhausted and the thought never struck me until writing this description. Drygores are very easy to make 1M from, but this one escaped me.- Spoiler:
2 - Seismic Singularity - 35,000,000gp - 5.39%
With my recent involvement with singularities I simply had to put up an offer to overnight and I did so at 650M which seemed a bit low based on the reports for the day so I figured it would either not buy and I would be in the same place or it would buy and I could flip for an easy profit the following day. Luckily it was the latter that pulled through for me. I would highly suggest getting involved with singularities as soon as possible for anyone looking to make some easy money.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 35,700,000gp
The days review - Another amazing day with a nice singularity flip in the mix. I am still running alongside these and will most likely be in them for the long haul, but for the time being I am simply taking candy from the proverbial baby.
Date: November 26, 2013
1 - Seismic Singuarlity - 25,000,000gp - 3.33%
Another day, another fantastic singularity flip. This sale goes with the latest buy of 750M for a nice 25M profit. I had purchased the one at 775 and watched as the price rose to 795, but had an offer to sell for 800. Unfortunately it then crashed back down to around 750 where I picked up a second before rising slowly hours later to this sale. The initial crash down to the low 600s was apparently caused by the release of the barrow's brothers update and now the price has been steadily rising back up. The latest cs update has not changed this much if at all.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 25,000,000gp
The days review - Only the one flip for today, but yet again it is another thing of beauty. I have a couple offers in the GE for overnighting which I hope to see something happen with throughout tomorrow.
Date: November 29, 2013
1 - Tectonic Energy - 540,000gp - 7.6%
A common flip of one of the mentors, I figured it was low wealth and semi-quick so I would throw it in for a nice bit of profit. If inactively flipped or even short-term invested, these can produce a few hundred thousand gp in profit per energy so this is definitely an item that can make a splash in one's profits without asking much to begin with.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 540,000gp
The days review - Again only one flip for the day and nothing more than a filler flip really. I took a heavy loss on the sings I had bought into before the crash and had some other offers in, but they did not complete whatsoever.
Date: November 30, 2013
1 - Santa Hat - 9,000,000gp - 2.72%
Beginning last week with my partyhat flipping and leading to today, I had noticed that Santa Hats as of late have been following a pretty consistent pattern and this morning especially they were jumping quite quickly from point A to point B and back again and so I decided to jump in and go along for the ride which worked to perfection.- Spoiler:
2 - Seismic Singularity - 15,111,495gp - 2.19%
Similar to the Santa Hat, I had noticed a consistent trend recently for the singularity (not quite as contained, but relatively as such so I placed an overnight offer near the low and sold a bit below where I was hoping which was a bit below the recent high. Yesterday I was hit hard by selling two singularities for a huge loss so I wanted to jump right back on the horse hence this flip. Not too bad at all.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 24,111,495gp
The days review - My two overnights from the previous night were successful, but no other merchanting went on.
Date: December 1, 2013
1 - Seismic Singularity - 10,000,000gp - 1.45%
I set up another overnight offer for a recently low and it had purchased by this morning which I put in at 700M expecting an instant sale. While this was not the case, it sold within a few minutes for another easy 10M.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 10,000,000gp
The days review - Another day with only one flip and another singularity flip added to the collection of great singularity flips of mine.
- Spoiler:
- Starting Total Merchantable Bank: 1.9B
Ending Total Merchantable Bank:
Weekly summary -
Date: December 2, 2013
1 - Seismic Singularity - 7,000,000gp - 1.01%
The singularity has been my go-to item for the past two weeks now. Even after losing 115M collectively on two of them, it was a freak crash and I still find them very easy to overnight as the margins on them (recent low/high) are pretty consistent day in and day out; easy to make up to 10M per night per singularity at this time.- Spoiler:
2 - Seismic Singularity - 8,000,000gp - 1.16%
I picked this up the following day of purchasing the first and went for a bit larger a margin which worked out nicely. I initially had them in to sell at 700M, but decided to bring it down 1M after a number of hours as it's still a good profit and would hate to see it head back down to the low price before I could take the profit on these. One of those situations where being lazy or stubborn to change the price could come back to bite you.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 15,000,000gp
The days review - Two flips of the same item for similar profits. I'll take it; just that much closer to the Pro Merchant status.
Date: December 3, 2013
1 - Dragon Limbs - 7,875,000gp - 3.63%
An item that I recalled someone else having flipped for a decent profit (lil_me perhaps) and figured I would take a stab at it. Wasn't as much profit as I had initially planned for, but the price had dropped by the time I had bought the limit (-1) so I lowered my sell price accordingly. Took roughly a day and a half between buy and sell. These are used to create the Dragon Crossbow which is then used to create an Ascension Crossbow which allows them to have a decent enough demand to make a profit, but a low enough demand that margins can be amazing.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 7,875,000gp
The days review - Just the one flip, but another beauty it is. It seems here lately that the case has been that even on one flip days I still manage to pull off something special.
Date: December 4, 2013
1 - Saradomin Godsword - 4,500,000gp - 1.35%
Upon a common price check of this item I found a huge margin that I obviously could not pass up. I set the offer up and checked in on it a couple hours later and put them in to sell overnight. I logged in today to a cyan line of text that assured me the flip had completed and my profits were locked in. This is an example of one of the larger-margin flips this item has the ability to produce.- Spoiler:
2 - Drygore Longsword - 1,000,000gp - 1.14%
I had a lot more money to play around with and decided I would fill the rest of my Grand Exchange slots with Drygore weaponry. The longsword came through within about twenty minutes and was left in to sell overnight. Drygore weapons fluctuate quite a bit throughout the day so I knew that it would sell off relatively soon, but overnight is perfect. These are also easy to stretch the margins on, but here I went for the general flip and succeeded.- Spoiler:
3 - Drygore Rapier - 2,950,000gp - 3.69%
The rapier did not come through before I went to sleep and eventually came through overnight. When I logged in to find that it had bought, I put it back in to sell at my high price and was happy to see an instant sell for nearly 2M further profit than I had expected. Always nice to have these happen as it makes profit-making just that much simpler.- Spoiler:
4 - Offhand Drygore Longsword - 1,000,000gp - 1.75%
Keeping with the Drygore flipping I had this offer in for an hour total between buy and sell. '90weaps pc' fc is the friend chat dedicated to price checking all level 90 weaponry (drygores, ascension, seismic) and drygores are very easy to make money off of, especially in 1M increments though at times can produce multiple millions per item.- Spoiler:
5 - Drygore Longsword - 1,000,000gp - 1.1%
Another Drygore Longsword flip completed, another 1M in the bank. This flip completed within a quick thirty minutes (give or take a couple); a great example of just how great of moneymakers these weapons can be.- Spoiler:
6 - Steadfast Boots - 1,120,000gp - .9%
I haven't so much as price checked Steadfast Boots in quite some time, but since I was getting back into Drygores this week I figured I would acknowledge these boots and it paid off well. I had the offer in for a number of hours before stalling at eight, left the offer in for a few more to see if the last pair would buy without luck. After placing them back in to sell they were gone within about two minutes. Guess I should remember to look into this more often.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 11,570,000gp
The days review - Very productive day today with six flips and another 10M+ profit made. Roughly 25M away from that 1B profit mark.
Date: December 5, 2013
1 - Drygore Mace - 1,000,000gp - 1.19%
I put an offer in for the mace, but a report took it up another notch forcing me to increase my buy price as well. After it had come through, the price dropped down a bit. Drygores fluctuate quite a bit and I knew that it would rise back to the price I was looking to sell for so I left it in while I was off doing other things. The key to drygores is nothing more than patience.- Spoiler:
2 - Drygore Rapier - 1,200,000gp - 1.47%
Similar to the mace above, not two minutes after I put in the buy offer did another report come in that caused the pc of the rapier to go up. In this instance I let my offer stand and it eventually sold after an hour or two. Doing this, while taking a bit more time, allowed me to stretch the general 1M margin to a 1.2M margin. As I said with the mace - the key is patience when it comes to drygore weaponry.- Spoiler:
3 - Sirenic Scale - 450,000gp - 8.27%
My first time flipping anything Sirenic and it goes very quick and very well. I went with the scales first as I have been told they work similar to Tectonic Energy which I do have experience with. The buy lasted for about 1.5 minutes and the sale was near instant; in total the flip was <2 minutes. These have a limit of ten just as the tectonic energy does and is a self-check item that demands <1M per item making it a great item to utilize for profits for a lower wealth player.- Spoiler:
4 - Tectonic Energy - 450,000gp - 5.62%
Speaking of Tectonic Energy, I was running this alongside the Sirenic Scales though it seems the scales are a much quicker flip than the energies or they just happened to sell extremely quick; the energies extremely slow this time around. Another great example of a flip lower wealth players should look into utilizing for some nice profits.- Spoiler:
5 - Saradomin Godsword - 2,000,000gp - .67%
I had a great flip of these just yesterday so I thought I would check in on them to see if I could find myself with a similar opportunity and while the profit here is less than half of that made yesterday, it is still a multi-million gp flip which is definitely respectable. It did take a few hours to complete seeing as I left the offer in for a bit hoping the ninth would come through, but after about an hour I removed the eight and put them in to sell which added another two hours to complete.- Spoiler:
6 - Offhand Ascension Crossbow - 4,000,000gp - .78%
Been quite a while since I have managed to pull a nice Ascension bow flip in and while the percentage did not quite make the 1% mark, I am still very pleased with this flip in that it produced multiple millions in profits leading me just that much closer to the 1B profit mark. I picked these up and planned for a 3M profit per (would have made the cut for 1%), but had to drop the price and settle for the two. As can be seen from the timeclock in the images, the flip lasted for around 15 hours even then.- Spoiler:
7 - Yellow Partyhat - 4,000,000gp - .32%
I wanted to use up more of my wealth in one flip so my choices were to either inactive/overnight multiple limits of some high cost gear/weaponry or to go for a rare such as a partyhat or a half full wine jug. I have never touched the latter while having great experiences with the former and that is what I went for. Not a profit similar to those I was able to produce a few weeks ago, but those were above average while this is a more realistic flip for a hat in today's game. Bought the hat overnight and sold inactively throughout the day.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 13,100,000gp
The days review - About 12.5M profit until that 1B profit mark. Let's see if we can make that happen with another strong day tomorrow.
Date: December 6, 2013
1 - Red Partyhat - 3,000,000gp - .19%
While it is unfortunate to come with the percentage that it did, the profit made here at this point is about what is expected on a regular partyhat flip. I purchased this last night at a bit above a recent low and sold it at the recent high disregarding a rise it had to above 1620M as a one-and-done thing; upon waking up the latest report was sitting on my sell price so seems a pretty good call by me, especially with other hats still tanking for some reason (purple below 1200? what?).- Spoiler:
2 - Drygore Mace - 1,801,000gp - 2.12%
Entered '90weaps pc' fc this morning to receive the latest reports on all of the level 90 weapons. I put this offer in 1M below the latest report and came back a number of hours later to it having bought. When I put it in to sell for my sell price, it instant sold for an extra 800,000gp profit. Have to love when that happens. Another great example of what these items are capable of when inactive flipped.- Spoiler:
3 - Drygore Longsword - 1,200,000gp - 1.29%
Just as I did with the Drygore Mace above, I placed this offer before I left for a few hours and returned to a completed offer. This one however did not instant sell, but I'll take the profit nonetheless. I placed my buy price 1.2M below the latest report this way, if necessary, I could add a bit every so often to my price until it came through to maximize profits.- Spoiler:
4 - Ragefire Boots - 810,000gp - 1.5%
Ragefires have been giving me either lower margins or flipping issues the last few times that I have attempted to flip them, but this attempt came both with success and with a higher profit than usual. Occasionally these can produce over 1M profit and can also be good for inactive or short-term investing, but this was more active a flip than anything so a very nice profit indeed.- Spoiler:
Daily profit - 6,811,000gp
The days review - About half of the profit left until the 1B mark was gained so not too shabby.
Date: December 7, 2013
1 - Virtus Wand - 1,500,000gp - .27%
These wands can be good for inactive, overnight, and short-term investing, but I have never been able to do well by them. In fact this may be the best if not the only profit I have personally made off of these sad to say. I had an offer in to buy the limit, but it stalled at three for a good two hours so I pulled the plug and sold what I had for the profit that I could. Not a great use of money and flip in general, but it brings me closer to that 1B profit mark.- Spoiler:
2 - Offhand Drygore Rapier - 1,000,000gp - 1.83%
Upon receiving the latest pc for this item I placed a buy offer 1.2M below and it came through after about forty minutes. The sell I lowered to a 1M margin as shown above due to the price lowering after I had purchased it, but still it sold relatively quickly for the nice profit. 1M profits are the common profit for these items.- Spoiler:
3 - Glaiven Boots - 2,340,176gp - 15.3%
When I price checked these boots I had found them with a 700K margin which was great, but per usual I had a horrible time trying to get anywhere near a full limit on these boots and after stalling for over an hour on three I decided to remove the offer and put them in to sell. They instant sold for much higher than what I was selling for which is fantastic.- Spoiler:
4 - Drygore Mace - 900,000gp - 1.04%
Similar to the rest I found the latest report through the '90weaps pc' fc and placed an offer about 1.5M below the last report. It fell on me after purchase and once the Glaiven's sold I was only 850K or so from the 1B mark so I lowered my margin by 100,000gp to shoot for a quicker sale while still grabbing a nice profit over 1%. Unfortunately even with the lowering of my price it stayed up for over half an hour before finally selling off. All that matters to me though is that I have finally achieved that 1B profit, 'Pro Merchant' status.- Spoiler:
5 - Red Partyhat - 3,000,000gp - .19%
I logged in tonight to see that rares were still plummeting to no end, but someone had just reported a red sale 4M+ above the last reported price. I figured I would play it safe and try to work within those boundaries so I put up an offer 1M above the first report that I received (bought within three minutes) and sold for the price the latest report was for (sold after another three or so minutes). Nice and quick profits.- Spoiler:

Weekly summary -
Date: December 18, 2013
1 - Drygore Rapier - 1,000,000gp - 1.21%
Having purchased a white partyhat I had only 160M left and I don't have much time this week especially to be doing anything all that active and so I went with an item that I could trust. Drygore weaponry are easy to achieve 1M profits from and rise and fall throughout the day making it only a matter of time before the offer buys and the offer sells. It came through before I went to sleep, but left it overnight to sell.

Re: Gummy's Merchanting Diary
Nice variety between your flips. Not really a ton to suggest. Maybe try to improve your educational value some, you do explain a lot of informative things, such as if it's high demand or not, what it's limit it is, and such, but perhaps also include what was going through your head at the time and such. And I feel suggesting items is always nice, so here we go:
- Magic Seeds
- Saradomin Godsword
- Master Wand
Also, I particularly like the information (educational value) you gave on the Armadyl Godsword flip. I feel if you gave information/tips/mini-lessons like that more frequently coupled with some insight on what you were thinking whilst doing the flip, it'll be golden.

Re: Gummy's Merchanting Diary
Thanks for the post. I had already flipped Magic Seeds, but went ahead and flipped the Saradomin Godsword (finally a nice profit on these for me) and Master Wand (not too bad a profit for the item). Will do my best to fill in the rest where possibleKelly wrote:Nice variety between your flips. Not really a ton to suggest. Seems like only yesterday I started up this diary, but it's been three weeks since that time. How time flies...
